Is it my imagination, or has it become very quiet over the last few weeks? Is the recession really starting to bite?. Or is it just my company?

Depends on who you're flying for.

Business is booming, every aircraft is doing over 150hrs a month, we're so horrendously short of crew I don't know how we're keeping up, people are queing up out of the terminal.
Oh wait, sorry, i'm spending too long in the wannabee forum.

It has certainly become quiet. I think, (opinion only!) that it will become even more quiet with a decreasing oil price. The Russian economy is largly built on high oil and commodity prices. Since they have decreased sharply in the past several month a further slow down should be inevitable.

Unless of course you don't fly Russians about much!

Its two sides of the same coin..if the oil price goes down the Arabs and Russians will be poorer and the rest of the world will be richer and vice versa. I think in the medium to long term a drop in oil price has to be good for business.

Well as far as things go...I can't really say either way although the way the owner of the plane I fly seems to to and fro, they aren't short of money yet! Only time will tell but as far as I can see...if you are flying for an owner or management company then things shouldn't change that much. Surely it's charter that takes the hit...I can't see bank execs flying private if those bonuses aren't due at chrimbo!!
Any thoughts?

I do not know, guys and girls...
I am an airline guy, just moonlight occasionally in Learjets, to make extra $$$...

I remember a buddy of mine working in the USA in 1991 or 1992...
Was a captain on a corporate Falcon 50.
He lost his job (got another job a year later) -
Told me "with corporate jobs, when money gets tight, first thing that goes is the private jet".
That is what he told me...
In airlines, we fly less, and sometimes furlough junior pilots.
The best of luck to all of you -

Our group of companies only managed to provide statistics stating 55 hours flown this month thus far.
It has certianly been extremely quiet compared to this time last year. It's without doubt gone a little quiet!
How are the rest on Europe doing I was told most companies are predicting a downturn of between 15-20% this winter? :( True or not\?

Similar but different market, corporate heli (onshore UK) I would say has been down 50% since April of this year.
And you know what, I think there is worse to come next year.

I heard bizjet charter is down 30% to 35%, compared to one year ago. And yes, I also believe that this is only the beginning :uhoh:
