Hi All

Lets keep this thread for all the Lads and Girls out there who want to join Oman Air and for WY Crew as well to discuss about the company and any other issues related to Cabin Crew.

How is Training ? and where do they do Training now days ?

When you do ditching ? do you wear Life jacket or not ? and do they ask you to swim with a jacket or not ?

Is there any direct entry for experienced Cabin Crew joining Oman Air from different Airlines and how long does it take for them to be Cabin Manager/SFS ?

As experienced cabin crew and came from one of the major Airlines in the Gulf .. Am I going to be considered as a senior when I start flying ?

How is the money like ? and how much do you make by end of the month ?

How many off days can you get per month and can you request off days on a row ?

and finally is Oman Air a worth Airline to work for ?

Cheers

Mick Gatto

I don't alot about Oman Air only that like all middle eastern carriers they are expanding! I know a really nice person who has recently joined them in the HR ranks so there should be some very positive changes. Obviously they are not EK so that would need considering.

Hi everyone, i'm new in this forum and have some doubts to clear and hope to gather further information from all of you guys.

Oman Airways is rapidly hiring cabin crew in various countries right now and soon to conduct interview in Malaysia. I would love to go for Etihad but the recruitment agency informed me that Etihad would prefer to take experience crew and it would be tough for me trying to get in due to my age factor (29, non-experience).

However, they are refering me to Oman Airways for interview. After much research on Oman air, i am kinda disappointed with what i got from the net. The airline is small wt mainly old 737, bad reviews from customers, not many destinations, only 18 fleets and eventually 23 fleets by this year.

I need to know what's the salary package like in Oman Airways? Izzit good or at least close to Etihad? The working environment? Gosh i have so many doubts and hopefully some of you can give me your advice and opinion.... Thank you in advance!

I remember reading an advert a couple of years ago when they were recruiting crew in Europe. I can't remember it in details but it mentioned that they will help you find somewhere to live. The salary is pretty good and some earn around $1600 per month. I can't remember the numbers in details but it consists of basic salary, flight pay per block hour and allowances (on layovers). I also think they will give you allowance for accommodation (if you're not living in company accommodation that is). They also have a few layovers in Bangladesh and India.

Hi Emma!

Thanks for your info and i really appreciate it!

USD 1600is for the initial start? To be honest, this is what i'm getting by working in my country right now, but ofcoz, minus the traveling & exposure :p.... My friend just got into Etihad in Mar 09. Her basic is USD1100, per flying hour pays USD10, this is a lot comparing to what Oman has to offer..... This month she did only 4 trips, 125 flying hours and income close to USD2500... Etihad really pay well, too bad for me then.....

But i guess i will still go ahead for the interview to gain experience since im a fresher. I shall start to worry or consider only when i am taken! Once again, thank you so much! :D

Hello!

It all depends on how much you fly. It could be less, it could be more and also if you have layovers it will increase your salary as you would be getting allowances on top of your salary. As they are also flying to Europe I would think that the allowances are pretty high because of the high costs.

I think you should go for the interview! They will explain everything in details for you. One good thing with Oman Air is as they are a small airline it's easier to get to know the other crew and gives you that family environment.

Hi Gloria,

Are you from Malaysia as well? Oman Airways appoints Inter-Excel Advisory Sdn Bhd for their recruitment in Asia. Inter-Excel advertised in The Star Paper on 23/05/09 for the intake and you may also see Cabin Crew / Flight Attendant - Inter-Excel Advisory Sdn Bhd (http://my.jobstreet.com/jobs/2009/4/default/10/814185.htm?fr=J) for more details.

I also saw advert in Thailand & some other countries. If i am not mistaken, they are hiring Omani males and females from a few selected countries. Because Oman Air is spreading their wings to many new destinations soon, therefore they are rapidly hiring people from different nationlity.

Good to hear they will soon to fly to France, Germany, Kuala Lumpur and destinations in East Africa and the Far East as ones to watch, in addition to its current London and Bangkok services. :D

Hey, please let me know if you are going for it in Malaysia :p

Hi djonfire,

Thank you so much for your details and i now have a clearer picture of Oman Airways..... The basic sounds not too bad but the flying hours & allowance? I guess it really isn't that attractive though.....

Went for Qatar Open Day today in Singapore, luck was not with me today, i guess could Oman's interview is available, i would give it a try to gain more experiences.

I truly appreciate your help and information and thank you very much. :)

is when you do all the hard work of dealing with nasty passengers, pushing heavy carts, smiling unnecessary, compromising your sleep etc..etc..

If that is how you feel about these essential elements of the job, you have almost certainly made a massive and fundamental error in your personal choice of career. Stay at home. Work in an office.

Dear TightSlot,

I think you're absolutely right when you talk about my career choice.. Flying is definitly not an easy job.
But am guessing you don't know all that because either you weren't ever a flight attendant or you in a habit leaving unnecessary personal remarks.

Eitherways, You have a good day Sir.

Hello! My name is Andrea and hopefully I'll be part of Oman Air CC, pretty soon.
That is why I'm interested in all informations that you could give me, if it's possible.
Things like:
- accommodation of the CC,
- as a beginner what flights would I receive,
- things I should be aware of (being an westerner)

Any information is more than welcomed.

Thank you!

Hi All,

I am a newbie and is starting to consider myself a frustrated cabin crew wannabe :ugh: I applied for Qatar airways for 2 times now, i didn't make it to the FI the first time and then the 2nd time, no call. I submitted my CV in an agency in our country Phil. for Oman Air and until now there's still no sign of them coming here to the Philippines. Should there be od's for Emirated, Etihad and Saudia, i will attend, but there's none. Oh this career is not as easy as i thought it was in the past. But i wont stop until i reach my dream of flying across the globe. This is a great test of perseverance! congratulations to all those who had attained their goal of becoming one :D
