Not sure if this is the right place, but the other section is wannabees only...

All the international, or overseas jobs, call them what you will, require 500 hours in type and a type rating. Or all that I see on a regular basis.

Do any of these outfits hire pilots who don't meet these requirements? It doesn't seem like there could be that many A340 pilots with experience looking to go to Kazahkstan, or whereever, but maybe that is the case.

Any enlightenment is appreciated.

All jobs except for those in your native authority area will ask for Min experience (500 hrs on type) . In case it is lesser the companies are questioned by political interests why locals cannot be tained. it is this "500 hrs + Type rated" which cuts down their time to release to about 2-3 months fom the 4-5 monhs for non type rated.

It is this experience which places the individual in " Wanted Skills" for work permit/ visa etc.. else the pilot is just another unemployed pilot, of which there are many from ones own country.

having said that, often a type rating is mandatory and the hours are often negotiable in case numbers are not met. demand and supply really

In the A340 case, they often are looking for A330 pilots if they cant get A340 rated.
For all the rest a min. of 500 on type is requiered and it is usualy a requirement by the authority.
