The Indapendent Aircraft Restorers and Maintainers Coalition (IARMC) has tonight called upon CASA to widen it's QANTAS maintenance investigation to all aircraft types after a seventh incident in eleven and a half days occured this evening. During routine maintenance in Perth engineers became aware of a number of cabin reading lights had mysteriously blacked out on the previous Singapore-Perth sector flown by an 11 year old 747 aircraft. The latest incident was reported by shocked cabin crew upon arrival in the onboard cabin maintenance log book with the repairs to the system taking engineers at least 20 minutes. The aircraft's next service was nearly delayed.
A Qantas spokesperson said the incident was an isolated one with no passenger ever in danger. CASA said the latest mishap was an isolated one with no passenger ever in danger.
We spoke to a disgruntled passenger who has requested his name be witheld and he said "I couldn't read my fken book".
