Having managed to get new puter up and running I put Office 2000 on it as I couldn't get on with Works Suite which came bundled with it.
Now whenever I click on EXCEL it displays correctly then shuts itself down after about 5-10 seconds. Have done all the usual stuff like uninstalling Worksuite completely and the same with Office 2000. Driving me nuts and I can't seem to find anything on the web that refers to this snag.
Any Guru's out there with any ideas?

I did a search on the microsoft knowledge base and came up with several things the link below will take you to the search page.
Try doing a search for terminating as well as quit and see what it comes up with
Hope it helps http://search.support.microsoft.com/kb/c.asp?FR=0&SD=gn&LN=EN-US&spr=xlw2k

Possibly a registry key that has not been updated properly. Perhaps uninstall everything again and load the Office 2000 again (and not the Works).
Other than that... not sure!

If you have installed Office 2000 from a "non-legal" copy, then installing other products such as Mircrosft Project 2000, WIndows 2000 service pack, Ofiice 2000 service pack will cause this to happen.
Microsoft have built in an anti-piracy check.
There is a way round it on one of the Mircosoft tech articles - can find it if you need it.
