Does anyone know when easyjet will be taking on direct entry Captains?

When there are no more suitably qualified internal candidates for upgrade. CUrrently there are 100+ SFOs on the command course waiting list, with no significant fleet expansion planned for a long time. Even more so in the current economic climate.
Perhaps EZY will never again need DECs - we may never again see the rapid expansion of the last few years.
A very long time, if ever; unless you get a management job or are a TRI/TRE.

Never would be my best guess.

So with 104 secured airbus orders and a glut of Pilots about to hit retirement, nobody can see this company taking on DEC? I think easyjet will take on DEC again, the question is when.

...and a 100+ ex-GB guys waiting to go and also several hundred EZY SFO's waiting for their go too - I think DEC's are a long way away...

I'm a previous EZY Captain, I've spoken to the Flight Crew Manager about getting back in..... More chance of a w*nk off of the Pope...

I asked this on a previous post recently but got no replies, so as we're on the topic of EZY I'll give it another go!
Just wondering what 50% and 75% part time options at EZY look like after you've been in the company a year or two. Is it readily available (for FOs or Capts) and what would, say, a 50% roster look like in terms of the 5 on / 4 off / 5 on / 3 off pattern?
Thanks a lot

one way to reduce the list of F/O's awaiting Command would be to increase the min hours for Command maybe. Presume the 3000 limit was set when EZY were desperate for Cpt's (assumption made only on other airlines looking at 4000-6000 hrs normally?)

For info, it's 3000 factored hours meaning most candidates will have considerably more than 3000 hrs total especially by the time they've finished swimming in the hold pool waiting for a course date. Passing the course is no given either.

I Agree with all the above (of course exept Flying Clara), but I will not be so sure about the fact that there will be hardly any expension in Ezy, maybe in Uk, but in the continent I am quite sure there will be some, maybe not at the same rate as the previous 2 years but for sure the airbuses will keep on coming.
Or did I miss U2 cancelling orders?

yes, as new a/c arrive, so will older ones go back to the lessor etc. I personally cannot see any new DEC for some time yet. Things change though!

FLYING CLARA,

Go, fly your first 100 hours on the AIRBUS. Even than you will have no realy idea what is going on with DEC at EZY!:*

Clara:By the way, I will be flying 250 hrs... with EZY
PJS:For the record no one that is is currently undertaking ATP training this summer will be offered a job with us as a result of their training. Our "low hour" cadet pilots come from CTC and we are happy with this arrangement.
Cara:there is NO seniority in such companies like ryanair or easyjet, hence there will always be a need of DEC. Most of the guys here posting negative replies are FOs obviously pissed off with DEC, but that's life.
Hey congratulations, it looks like you'll be getting a first hand "NO seniority" experience yourself Clara! Don't worry though, there will always be airlines that are looking for sucker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/There%27s_a_sucker_born_every_minute), so you'll be 'guaranteed' of a job as long as you have credit with a bank. :{

could only see DEC if we open a new base that no F/O wants to take up a command at.

Forgive me for having a kevin keegan moment.....
Clara I really hope your name is actually Clara. Because when you arrive for your 250hrs at ezy you'll have a safety pilot for your first few days. And safety pilots are nearly always F/Os. You know these F/Os with around 3000 hours who don't know what they are talking about? The ones' you are deliberately for some unknown reason trying to piss off as best you can? Because you know, if your name is actually Clara, it would be easy to identify you.
I would love it if I was your safety pilot Clara. Love it. (that was the Keegan bit by the way)
PS Don't forget your chequebook.

One of my ex bf is a lfs luton base driver and he told me DEC will never stop for safety reason as it is better to have a 8000 total hours of which more than 4000 lhs on type compared to an sfo who's just reaching 3000 hours in the right hand seat only...
I bet you that he told you he loved you as well.

FLYING CLARA,
meanwhile I am just shaking my head about your comments! I "love" FOs like you. (if you should make it with a real airline!?)
BTW, I am longer time PIC, than your age.
And additionally I spent more time on top of the loop than your total flighttime!:):)
So far for your statement FOs only posting here!

I think it might be easy to identify her anyway. It's difficult to conceal one's true personality for long. Besides, how many girls are on the ATP scheme?
On the other hand, is "clara" a girl at all?
Is "clara" even a pilot?
She, he or it is certainly a wind-up merchant and you lot are rising like trout to flies.

Flying Clara are you actually on th ATP scheme? Are you one of the people that are doing the 150hrs line training with easyjet? Sorry but I don't think you'll have a job at the end of it if you are, especially with the talk of base closures!

None of them have jobs with easyjet nor are they going to. They are all supposed to have job offers with other operators though and if not then ATP are being very naughty :hmm:
