I'm setting up a powerline network to run a media centre extender & I'm running into a problem.
The powerline units are working & windows sees the extender. However, when I attempt to configure it which is a matter of a few clicks, media centre says it can't find the extender.
So it sees it then doesn't see it - a handshake problem it seems. I can't ping the extender - it times out. Windows doesn't show the device on the network, even though an icon appears in the tray to tell me it's found it & so I'm a bit puzzled.
I have connected the powerline to my dsl modem as distinct from a router. Now the destructions say I can do this but the noise from google says a router is required. I think this is probably the issue but anyone with experience, I would welcome some input.
