Hej Vikings,
I´d need to know something...my company wants me to fly to Sweden (from and to Norway) in July with our cooperate jet. Now I called them and they said: well we are officially closed for holidays, but you can land VFR.
Since I´m not initiated in swedish air law....
1) true also for a 13,7 ton jet?
2)Arriving on a Y plan and departing on a Z, do I call a centrelized flightplan office to close the plan? (got a number?) Do I get a IFR pickup clearance with them as well or is it just depart and call radar?
3)terminal procedures at airport: like Unikom in the states? anything special?
And the place is Skovde / ESGR...
Thanks in advance....

The best thing you can do is to call the tower of that airport and ask for the info or that you call Flight Planing Center at Arlanda in Stockholm and ask them... FPC tel: +46 8 797 63 40
As a final thing you can call LFV which is the company that runs all the airports. you can find the contact info at www.lfv.se
Since you are flying from abroad "I think" you have to land at an airport that is in operation and has toll service.
Even if you can land at an airport you might not be able to get out from the airport since the gates are closed.
Kind Regards
Tim

Thanks Tim....that number and the webpage helped a lot...
What I found out so far:
ESGR is run by the county, not LFV.
Customs not necessary since no Cargo.
Immigration not necessary since both are Schengen countries.
Okay to use the closed airport VFR.
Access: one can get out, but somebody has to stay inside the airport...
Only thing I forgot: is it okay to use english also in VFR "unicom" in sweden?

Yes it is OK to use english while flying VFR in Sweden, and if some vfr pilot in a cesna gives you any beef just say "Störst går först!" (the largest one comes first). That is what truck drivers say anyway...

"if some vfr pilot in a cesna gives you any beef just say "Störst går först!" (the largest one comes first). That is what truck drivers say anyway..."
Holy cow, I didnt want to impress by being rude... but I´ll make a note of the expression... :-)
Maybe I´ve got some luck and all the LITTLE Cessna drivers are in their tiny red lakeside houses - after all that what I know about sweden: you´ve got little red houses for vacation :}
Me flies a Cessna as well... so there is a good chance a Challenger driver comes along and tells me: "Störst går först!"
Thanks! :ok:

Welcome to Skövde.
I am from Skövde and have been flying quite a lot of corporate flying out of Skövde and when AFIS closed i usually started VFR and picked up my IFR clearance with Sweden control when airborne, i belive the new frequency for this area is 124,405. I usually closed my flightplan by calling 004640500090, i am not sure that this number number will work have not called them in thr last five years.
The easiest way though is to call 0046500463030 at least six hours in advance and pay the fee for someone to be in the tower.
There is a lot of glider activity in this area so be careful.
Hope this will answer your questions.

Even if you are VFR, you have to consider if you legally can land at an airfield with no rescue service available.
