Anyone know if using a large flash card in my Canon IXUS V digital camera will slow it down ?
Say a 256Mbyte ? (very cheap now .... around £90)
I have heard some canon cameras 'check' the memory on power up and take up to 30 seconds ?
Do the larger cards take longer to download, even if only a fraction of the capacity has been used ?
I have heard the larger cards can be quicker due to the technology involved ?
Thanks

The CFII type of card which is a small hard drive does use more power but if you go to www.dpreview.net and sign on with them and ask there I'm sure you will get a pretty good answer. I think that site is the best digital photography site that I have found.

No problems with Dig Ixus V and a new 256mb (Sandisk, £124 from http://www.internetcamerasdirect.co.uk/ )card.
Works fine, - I have not noticed any differences in speed at all.

BTW gotajob4us? these people seem very cheap for the flash cards : £90 for a 256Mbyte plus they seemed very helpfull when I phoned them - they seemed to know what they are selling .....
