You will need time on type, min 100 PIC. So not only type rating required but hour building also.
I think expat F/O employment is out.

Acass canada is involved with India, but you need a type in the aircraft they are offering, and you must negiotiate your contract. You would not want to come over here unless they satisfied certain perameters, like salary, housing, per diem, and tickets home, the only way here that really works is to get a commute schedule, to accept anything else might cause you grief I am in Bombay, their are at least twenty corporate aircraft on the ramp, from an airbus 320 down to a C-90 King air. To get direct to the company you must know someone or work for them, they always seem to apporach you to work directly with them, which sometimes works out OK.
:)
Good Luck

If you are looking for an FO job, it will be impossible as an Ex-pat....I just went through the whole process!! If you have enough experience to be captain, you will have a great chance!

Now you cant work in India as an expat FO coz DGCA has put a blanket ban on that and also has told the airlines to draw a plan to phase out all expat FOs. :ugh:

Anyone know if they accept typed f/o flying a leg towards PIC time as per the FARs or only Captain time (person responsible for a/c) Thanks.

Hey guys some good news for Expat FOs working in India. As per the latest guidelines issued by DGCA, expat FOs can continue working in India for four years/Jul 2010, whichever is earlier!

That would be great!! When did you hear this?? Is it only for Ex-Pats ALREADY working in India?? My paperwork went through again, but from the Canadian side this time.....maybe it will come back approved this time??
Here's to hoping!:)

casper63 is the FATA renewal a rumour or have you seen written confirmation from the DGCA - mine is due to run out next month

It is confirmed. DGCA has already informed all airlines in India.

@casper63: Like smackid asked, is this for exptas ALREADY working in India, or applicable to folks who wish to get hired as an expat F/O?
Thanks

an anyone tell me where I might find the compensation package details for Expat CA on the airbus 320 and Atr for kingfisher Airlines. Does the new rule requiring Indian pilots by 2010 apply to captains as well.
Thanks.

I dont think the 2010 ruling will apply to Captains as I think they will get rid of the expat F/O's before the expat Captains. Guessing another 4 to 5 years for Captains.

Does the new ruling by the DGCA mean that the chances of getting a pilot job have increased.

GREAT. Just when I thought things were getting better.
What is your advice for "fools" like me then?
There is nothing else in my life that I am interested in!!!!!!!

Doesnt anyone have CA payrates for the A320 at Kingfisher. I hear the ATR pays about $12000 a month.

horsey ... here's my 2 paisa worth of advice ... though this might not sound like what you want to hear ... get a "normal" job. earn some money. build a financial base. the market shall stablilize out eventually. and then make a decision. no point in just rushing in, spending US$ 45,000.00, and then coming back and finding that there are no jobs.
why don't you head off to the nearest flying club. do a couple of hours and see how you feel? maybe it's not your thing? also get your Class I medical done.
atleast that way's you'll be satisfied and won't have any regrets.
make no hasty decisions here. a lot of money is involved.
