Me too!I think you will find that getting info on this site about vietnam airlines or thai is next to impossible for some unknown reason.
About Thai ,Can anyone tell me (very unlikely though,as I have asked this a trillion times!!!) what are salaries like for pliots there (actual quotes or resonable estimates would be great!) and why do they only hire thai nationals (money?) - a bit discriminating . . . no?

I'm trying to remember where I heard it, but there are reportedly a large number of Eastern Scabs working at Air Nuouc Maum...All Airbus folks.

I'm thinking that if their is a buyout (early retirement) of the senior guys at United I'll take it and go to Asia....My wife is Korean, and I speak Vietnamese, Japanese and Korean.

I'll try to research this a little more...

IF you are planning or trying to get employment with Vietnam Airlines directly -- Forget it! The reason being they do not deal with their pilots directly for recruitment. They hire Contract brokers who do all the leg work, but then you are at the beck & call of the contract agency. It has come to my knowledge ( first hand) that the contract is for one year only, which makes one feel very insecure because the airline likes to change their contractors every year! This gives way to insecurity to the pilot hired.
The salary is tax free and good.
But who wants these days to be shunted off after a year to some obscure airline?
Found it very difficult to get direct contact with the airline Personel or HR department.

Invaribly:
TG pilots are practically all ex Thai Air Force, and the pay is in Baht, equivalant to approx USD 2500/mo for a Capt. It's a quasi Thai Air Force operation with lots of retired Colonels in key management positions.
Forget it.
