5. More international airlines fly into Melbourne
Australian Tourism Minister Fran Bailey has announced that the Australian Government has granted Qatar Airways permission to commence daily operations into Melbourne.
The approval is expected to result in a major tourism boost for Australia from the Gulf Countries and will also provide Australian carriers with an additional international hub.
The announcement follows an early one this year where the Federal Government agreed to increase current available airline capacity between the UAE and Australia from 4 flights per week to 7, allowing a new weekly service to Australia from Etihad Airways.
