Interesting report in today's business pages, outlining the plans for European Low Cost carrier (LCC) Norwegian Airlines, who are to start services from Stockholm and Oslo to Dubai this year.

Services will commence in October and will be operated using Boeing 737-800's. This is in partial response to "growing ties" between Scandinavia and UAE.

It will be interesting to see how this will affect SK, QR and EK's existing and new plans for the region. I have to say that flight prices from both QR and SK to their respective served destinations ain't cheap!!!!! ARN and CPH are not known for low fares. Let's see how Norwegian Airlines manages. Good luck.

(7 hours in a 737 is possible?)

Smartwings is a LCC by definition (check wikipedia or so).

LCC does not mean low cost tickets, I am sure you would agree that Ryanair is a LCC, however their prices are far higher on occasion than Aer Lingus and BA.

Don't want to check it now, but do other airlines fly Dubai -Prague for less? What about one way?

LCC does not mean low cost tickets Very true, however, if I book a month in advance, I expect them to be low cost most of the time.

7 hours in a 737 is quite possible, as long as its a 737NG!

Just checked prices in exactly 4 weeks time:

Expedia:

DBX - PRG (one way, cheapest) British Airways 410EUR (travel time 12h)

DBX - PRG - DBX (return cheapest) Aeroflot 664EUR (travel time 9 1/4 and 14 hours)

Smartwings:

DBX - PRG 254EUR (travel time 6 1/2 h)

DBX PRG - DBX 528EUR (travel time each 6 1/2 h)

Are there really cheaper and direct flights? couldn't find them. Please let me know if there is something better, I go down there every other month right now...

Like everything else in life, its a trade off...

Turkish offer a full service flight with additional travel time of between +5 hours and +3 hrs for Euro 518.

I love the idea of a direct service and wish them well, but I still feel that lo cost carriers should live up to their names :)
