Just heard it from a mate of mine who happens to be Captain in SIN Cargo: EK is luring pilots from SIN to EK. How desperate they must be to steal pilots from other airlines...wondering if they do it somewhere else as well...:=

What's wrong with that? SQ has been doing that for all the years..right? Nothing new in this industry. Its a open market. Good for the pilots. For a change its a "pilots market" :ok:

Yes and offering them more money than their own pilots. Real grood for moral that.

Haven't seen any DECs from SIN cargo, just f/os looking for an earlier command than would be the case in SIN. Those I have met would have preferred to have stayed if it wasn't for the time to command and are less than impressed by EK and DXB.

During my selection (December 2007), there was a SIN Cargo captain, looking for a DEC position.
He is a very nice guy, but EK did not take him, not the right action if they are poaching!

I totally agree with Fruitless...
It is a pilots market right now and airlines have every right to so call "steal" other pilots. Those who aren't happy with conditions at SQ are not really stolen then if they move over to EK.

Interesting comment about somebody from SIN at EK being perfect for the job being binned.
Even the ' Greatest ' ( their ads ) airlines often screw up big time by not employing perfectly suitable candidates by being arrogant and ridiculous in their attitude to the candidate before them . How often have I seen perfect choices being humiliated by idiot amateur recruiters ? Even experienced crew can be dismissed / ignored by the clueless at a tap of the delete button. The slightest mis-quote / mistake etc and some idiot will be on to it in a flash to prove how useless you are. Combine that with professional jealousy and any interviewee who does not achieve the perfectly acceptable expectation of being interviewed by one of his peers / fellow aviators can feel like he just bought a lottery ticket.
A lot of these airlines have had it coming for a long time. Result.

I am not going to get into the specifics of any particular airline, but the bottom line is that if pilots are happy (well remunerated and treated like human beings rather than tools in a tool box) they will stay. If they are not happy and have options they will pursue those options.
If some perceive EK as a better option than where they are at the moment and there are suitable offers forthcoming from EK then that is just market forces at work.
Good times coming for all I think. :D

"there was a SIN Cargo captain, looking for a DEC position." and he didn't make it??!!
I've never heard anything so stupid in all my life.
What are they looking for in prospective crews now, NASA graduates with Space Shuttle time??:ugh:

It's not just about the flying. It's how people will fit in and more importantly, how those already here will fit in with them. Horses for courses and all that.....
Heard recently of a very experienced and capable guy chopped because he was too forthright and outspoken. Not EK's cup a tea!
ps. Didn't realise that if you are a SIN Skipper, that gives you the qualifications to pass every selection program devised by man. How stupid indeed!

Yes you are right. How stupid of me.
Can't really see 747-400 qualified people lining up for jobs at EK can you?
If EK have limitless resources to train non rated people, then I would be pushing for another salary increase if I were you.
