Attention Emirates Pilots.

At one of our fun board meetings a few weeks ago, it was noted that there had been a slight reduction in discontented posts on PPRUNE from you, the barely tolerated and lazy pilots. This could not be allowed to continue, as we do not want you to focus your attention on matters of real importance regarding our operation. Therefore, it was decided to arbitrarily alter one of the most important facets of your working existence. Your ability to bid and plan for days off.

This will now incense you to such an extent that all other matters will be ignored. We note that complaints concerning Flight and Duty Time Limitations and standard of crew rest facilities have stopped. You are now too busy trying to make sense of the latest development.

A couple of your senior managers and superiors argued that if this policy to restrict the number of days off was to be implemented, you should be notified through official channels. They soon saw the error of their ways. (That was easy. Continued gravy train or stand by the pilot group. It should come as no surprise as to their immediate decision). We find it regrettable that occasionally some of our managers have been unable to completely shed their first world baggage vis-à-vis reasonable and civilised behaviour towards the employee group. Particularly a group potentially as dangerous as you.

You will not be getting strings of days off in a row. You joined Emirates to work, and to increase the profits of the owners. We have no interest in your families and where they may be. Everything is provided for you in Dubai. You have no need to leave. This is the best country in the world. Eventually you will begin to believe that.

One of our more senior executive managers was concerned over his lack of quality rest. Sleep was impossible knowing that some pilots may have 10 or more days off in a row to rest and recuperate and enjoy family life. That situation is intolerable. We will not have the quality of rest of our important managers adversely affected.

Do not think that you can now implement what we know is commonly called PRA’s. This practice will be vigorously eliminated. Any pilot who travels overseas on his days off and then calls in sick for a duty between two blocks of days off will have his staff travel privileges immediately terminated. You can expect a follow up interview on your return to Dubai. You had better be able to convince us that you are still happy in your work here. You are a dime a dozen. In fact, as we lower the bar, you are more like 5 cents a dozen.

We will start to implement credit recovery if it becomes apparent to us that PRA’s are being used. We will apply your sick leave provisions of two weeks, something at the moment we have not done. You will not get paid if your sick leave exceeds two weeks in any one year. If you have more than two weeks of sick leave for other than readily identifiable accidents or provable sickness, your suitability for continued employment at Emirates will be questioned. We are only interested in employing machines that will do as they are told.

Now read the title of the post again. You have been warned.

Thank you. Keep up the hard work. You have no option.

EK Management.

Could the day off strings have something to do with the lack of trainers.
As most people will not go into training because they like the day off strings , now take away the days off , might as well train more money etc...CANT GET OUT OF DXB MIGHT AS WELL WORK HARD.
So much for a pilot shortage it never gets any better, if you wait long enough there will still be nothing there. Many guys past 15 years still waiting for bases, not likely.

Its just a Damn shame its not the dream job it could be, As EKManagement posted .

this time i have to leave :{

Hello Management,:tongue::tongue: You remember me, don't you? You named me at that pilots meeting about three years ago - the one where you called it quits halfway through and ran for cover.:tongue::tongue: Well, thank you for the day off string. Your computer system awarded it to me although it looks like it was tampered with, because I was rostered a Bombay in the middle.:tongue::tongue: No matter - I had my neighbour call Evita from my phone (I was busy skiing in Austria) and press Button 2.:tongue::tongue: Don't worry, I'll be back by the 26th to ensure my pay is deposited as expected. I do plan to fly in Feb because I need to see to my investment properties in Sydney and London. The flight 1 and flight will suit me just fine. Perhaps a Bangkok also because I enjoy sipping a Corona in PatPong now and then but the rest I shall "adjust".:tongue::tongue: I'm having a good life here. Don't go thinking I'll be resigning anytime soon so you can hire another cheap DEC whore or even an FO, I am raking it in, on top increment and having a ball.:tongue::tongue: Best regards,:tongue::tongue: LP.

EK Mang

you have no idea how many and how often pilots fly a bit ill and should have booked off. if you (mang) mess with things to much more pilots will do exactly what the FOM says ( if you are not FIT dont fly) simple. if im unfit and in Europe im still unfit- go to the DR and he says no fly for 7 days , lookat that stuck in Europe for 7 days. What are you going to do?

It goes both ways

They will then simply remove the privilege of allowing us to leave Dubai on our days off. If they catch you outside the country while not on duty or annual leave they will cancel your staff travel rites and with hold your bonus.
They have many more options than we do.
Get your hours then walk away when you have had enough of the crap.
