OK.
It had to be done.
Ex-Cockpitforumers have begun loitering assorted threads in this fora. Again.:E
Maybe we should try and keep the gibberish here, instead of de-railing all the the other threads!:}
I really miss all the useful and useless threads over there. Especially the one spreading out over thirty-something pages, dealing with anything and everything.
Then there was the "Ringstinger thread" where The Knoldster taught us, the commons, of the "art of massive Tabasco consumption". And of course the after-math of those "fiestas".:p Not very mature,....but it certainly made for enjoyable reading.
...and if for no other reason,...to round up the ol' gang and start throwing our weight around in this 'ere normally zleepy section, called the Nordic forum.
...and if for no other reason #2,...to waken up that sleeping dragon again!:E
Flapsforty, I believe her name was/is!?
......and after having checked her profile, I realize a nick-change might be on the horizon, since she's having her 50th birthday today!!!! December 6th!!
Hip-Hip----Horray for Flapsfifty!!! :D
Sorry Flaps!;) Celebrate in style,...'cause you're probably worth it!!
Aaalrighty then!
Any takers?

/QUOTE]
Aye, little spring chick she is:
I am having my 51st b-day December 7th.
She is just a youngster by a day and a year and she looks it as well.
Man, If I was 30 years younger, I'd take her out for dinner and the rest.:E
So, uh the Viking Bar is back in business now?
We can hang out and not worry about offending every arse-hole in town that stopped by at the wrong place and the wrong time?
Sounds good boys, lets crank this thing up and if F-40 wanna party she ought to join the club, bikini or not....

Mr Letterman,
Yes, I will take on just about anything.:E
Guttn,
Your idea is a brilliant one!:ok: Lets råkk!:8
TD,
Then, you're not as old as I thought!!:E Sorry sailor......
Hårek,
I don't have any extra personalities just yet.....might have to work on that one....before it's too late.:}
But,...whatever happened to them other people.... Emma and her hubby, for examle?
Hårek den Hardbalne
6th December 2007, 14:32
An2,
Emma (as far as I can remember after a few long drinks in the Bar) set sail years ago and disappeared into the Aurora Borealis and never looked back. Sad actually, `cause she had a tongue cut out of the worst winter storms in the northern parts of Norway. If you ever visited the place of Emma`s origin you would know what I am talking about. But a true lady she is. Not that I think F50 would appreciate her language. But as long as the frequent bar visitors do, we`re all happy. Right? Right!

Emma - the hotlip from the north
Aye, Emma is still around, but under a different name on a different board.
To send her a message, try this link:

TD,
Then, you're not as old as I thought!!
And how old did ya think I was...?
Gramps doing the internet thing?
No kiddo, I am a man in the middle of his best age, and been there for years.;)
Also into mid-life crises and considering the idea of falling in love with a rich and beatiful South American princess in her early 20s.
Then considering winning the grand prize in Lotto, fancy cars, big yachts, lots of bitches.
So the TowerDog ain't getting old and lazy on his old days, no Sir, still up and kicking ass.
Just need to find F-40 so I can take her out and let her sample my soul and my flesh next time she lays over in Florida. She will then change her name to Lucky Lady....:ooh:
Hårek den Hardbalne
7th December 2007, 17:17
Yeah right, Emma on a sailboat. It`s ok that she is born with salt sea spashing up her dining room windows, but sailing....???? Now way. I think you just want your old forum pals to register on another forum. Fair enough, I might do it when I have nothing else to do ;)
TowerDog
7th December 2007, 18:50
Yeah right, Emma on a sailboat.
Well, I don't think Emma is on a sailboat, but she is the airplane nut on that forum, Amphibian or something..Boat and plane combined.
She has been unusally quiet lately however.
The link was more for guys to leave her a message and inviting her over here, to the dungeons on the Vikingbar, not to get on that saiboat forum, which can be pretty boring with endless discussions on "which anchor is best", unless ya are indeed into sailboats and the cruising life style.
So, uh, no don't sign with the them guys, stay right here and blow some life into this thread instead.
Speaking of, where is F-40 (50) when ya need her?
Did she retire from these shores?
Or so full of menopause and hot-flashes that she is too busy beating her husband and her surroundings to come over here and say hello to the studs?

Letterman, right on the money:}. Changing companies from having to save up for about 6 months to be able to buy a bag of peanuts on discount:ugh: (sad thing is that I`m not even kidding:{) to one where you are welcomed to the family:ok::}. So, no, I`m not that slim anymore:} and not as shady as I used to be:cool:.
So, shall we ask for a Viking Bar or what!?!??:D
Hårek den Hardbalne
14th December 2007, 17:30
It is not much going on around here. Actually not on the Nordic forums at all:{ The only folks keeping it going are those keen dudes who want to get into Air Baltic. That in itself should be a wake up call to us all. Viking Bar revival  Well......;)

A Noggie phenomenon perhaps:\. It has something to do with bread (any kind will do, maybe even toast), moonshine from your basement and/or local barn, and a snowmobile. Now every Noggie knows that moonshine is frowned upon. But not as much as snowmobile driving:ugh:. And for some folks 2 wrongs sometimes make a right:eek::}. But since it`s perfectly legal to drive snowmobiles in Sweden, you may not have this kind of extremesport there:}:}:D

Guttn,
Thanks for that broadside!! :ouch: :}
Actually,...now that I know what it is,..."snöskoter-macka" is a pretty common diet anywhere north of Arvidsjaur, here in "Blond Country". ;)
Year-round I believe!:E
P.S It would've been "tjänstefel" of you to miss the lay-up, so I don't blame you. Rest assured though,........what goes around, comes around!! D.S:E

I shall not join this thread as I'm currently on x-mas vacation, expected back on Jan 3rd at least 10kgs heavier and well overdue for a C-check on my liver.
Looking forward to introducing my Turkish wife to the delights of a full-on Danish x-mas lunch, with plenty of snaps (O.P. Andersson obviously). While she can hold her drink and doesn't generally suffer from hang-overs, I wonder what pickled heering and cupious amounts of snaps will do to her :E
Yes, I know, evil is my middle name.

TD,
FFF actually announced his marriage on the old forum, but you were not around then as I recall it.
Many of us were non-believers of this happening, until presented with facts a while ago.

FFF actually announced his marriage on the old forum, but you were not around then as I recall it.
Aye, that may be so.
Yeah, I bailed out of the old forum when the man wanted dough for full access: If ya don't pay up, ya become a second class citizen.
Not so with the old TowerDog, can't play second fiddle ya know.
Sooo, FFF got married a while ago? That is why he is so quiet these days...?
No time to go bar-hopping in Copenhagen with bikini girls, or write tall flying stories on the boards. Poor sod, he is probably doing dishes or painting the white picket fence.
He shall surely be missed by most.:{
As for joining the Viking Bar: Aye, easy mates! Pull up a chair, pour a pint of mjød and tell some lies. No political correctness around here: Ya can pick on Swedes, women, rag-heads or whatever, everything flies...:E

2. Mothers hide their daughters when you come to town: This of course because they want you all to themselves.
So do you feel at home yet:cool: "
Sounds like home sweet home..
Regarding the poor sap who got married, Good luck with that.:hmm:
Did that twice myself, It ended becauce of AIDS. Army Induced Divorce Syndrome the first time and Aviation Induced Divorece Syndrome the second time.
I hear three's a charm? Anyone?
Anywhoo, Work just called since im on reserve, Im off to Punta Cana i think. Just got hired with a nice small compay and im enjoying flying again.

Aye, so ya have heard the stories?
Sorry
Nah, don't bother me nothing, I left Tradewinds a few months ago for greener pastures and don't regret it.
Can relax now with a low-stress job and even quit smoking and cut back on drinking. (that place drove me nuts, 30 hour duty days lack of concern for crew wellbeing, all for half pay)
Not good, not in the long run anyway, that place needs a union so bad but the troops are running scared: Anybody trying to organize gets fired.
Smoknjoe
21st December 2007, 02:03
"Aye, so ya have heard the stories?"
Sure have, But Like i said before, I come from mesa :ugh:. They wrote the book on fuxxing with pilots and bending the rules using intimidation. Mesa managements favorite quote when i argued that something was agains the contract. Grieve it. They knew i would have to comly and MAYBE be made"whole" in 6-18 months. Fuxxers.
"and even quit smoking"
I know i should, Im just not a quitter:=,:),once again,a decade total with mesa. Im just now recovering from the stockholm syndrome/battered spouse condition induced by that place.
Worked with many awsome folks, Just couldnt see myself there long term.
"I left Tradewinds a few months ago for greener pastures and don't regret it."
Good, Happy you're at greener pastures :D.Where are you now?
"and cut back on drinking." Come now, you just have to keep practicing ;).
Ended up not flying today. Back on reseve sat morning.

Where are you now?
At AA..The airline, not the drinking club.
Got MIA base and the B-757/767..Sweet gig, the Boeing twins are like Cadillacs..Quiet, easy to drive, comfortable, etc.
If we only get a new contract next year without going on strike and burning the place down....
"and cut back on drinking." Come now, you just have to keep practicing .
Yeah, I was doing it too much: 1/2 case of beer per day, got a good size beer belly out of it.
Not good as I am into a mid-life crises at the same time: Can't chase them young chicks with a beer belly, they go for the slim look...:=
once again,a decade total with mesa
What is it with that place? Heard mucho horrendous about Mesa...Why does folks stick around if it is that bad?
These days there is a real pilot shortage blooming and in many ways a seller's market.
5 years ago it was tough with 6000 furloughed pilots walking the streets in unemployment-land and the employers could really screw you over and do it again.
Nowadays they are screaming for pilots offering sign-up bonuses and other goodies.
I kept my CFI alife and being on some mailing list for CFI holders I keep getting job offers in the mail from the big flight schools promising up to $40K in annual compensation plus this plus that....
Back in the old days the young instructors had to beg, lie, cheat and steal to get one hour of flight time. Always hanging aorund airports, sneaking into to garbage to search for a half-eaten sandwich or perhaps some soggy fries.:(
Aye, times have-a-changed, now a pilot is in the drivers seat and can look himself in the mirror with a smile on his face.

Ya guys on permanent vacation or just shy little girls?

An2,
X-Mas is for kids. Let your twins understand that you do everything for them up until X-Mas. Thereafter it`s daddy-time in the Bar. No interuptions whatsof:mad:ever. Same goes for wifes and such who wants attention over the next week or so. This time of the year is for daddy to do what he likes and for mamas to attend to the kitchen stuff :ok:
I take it for granted that we all hang around here 24/7 as of the 25th.
TowerDog
22nd December 2007, 15:37
Not so sure about hanging out at the bar from the 25th onwards.
The 'ol Dog is junior man on reserve in MIA starting the 24st.
The odds of being called for a trip is so close to 100% that I did not even put up a X-mas tree.
My ass will be off on some junior trip that some asshole dropped in Open Time, or called in sick to get out off.
You boys mark my words and see the result in 36 hours from now when I am again obliged to answer my telephone.
Of course I could have the good fortune of getting a nice 4 day trip to Buenos Aires with a crew of lusty flight attendandts. Good food and drink down there as well.
Perhaps the sun will shine on me despite being THE junior man.
Stay tuned....

None, see above. Guess you can call it a contract-gig. Testflying a 737, then off to more central regions of EU for a ferry flight of the same type, and then up to "the old country" for New Years with Mack Øl og Linje Aquavit :ok:.

Earlier this year I went back to the cold country and stayed a few days with friends way up North.
Needless to say we swallowed more than a few.
Next day I felt like dog-poo-poo-poo.
Allah knows I have experience drinking, smoking, fornicating, being arrested, falling on my face, etc..This was different however. The beer up there put me under the table after 0500 hours and not to bee seen untill 1500.
The next day felt like a nuclear attack and the pain did not stop untill deep into the next case the day after.
Allah knows only Carlsberg, Bitburger, Dahls and a few others will carry you through the day without surgery...Stay there, don't go to town with a stranger.
Otherwise: say hello to Ralph...:yuk:

Regarding Mack;
I went to engineering-school with a bunch of Noggies. We (a couple of us guys) used to run a bar in the dungeons below the classrooms, every friday.
One friday, before we were supposed to have a dreaded exam, the Noggie-boyz decided they should get themselves some "real beer"=Mack.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, all but one of them failed to show up for the exam the following monday!;) That's "The Power of Mack" for ya, right there!!:E

Quick report from Mrs FFF's first encounter with a Danish xmas gig. Well, she might be muslem and all that, but she drinks like a fish and have no problems ingesting vast quantities of pork. So xmas evening went down a treat; I could only hope for a bit of fun for the xmas lunch on the 25th.
But, alas, I was buggered again. She took to the snaps like a duck on water, and positively loved the heering and everything else put on the table. Bugger, bugger, bugger.
Last time for a spot of good hearted fun was on new years evening, where the wacky-backy pipe is usually passed around with loads of bubbly. Nope, no real effect from that either. Floppy, on the other hand, passed out as early as 0500 and had to be carried to the taxi by the Mrs. Bugger, bugger, bugger.

Washing? Ironing? Shopping? Cleaning? Dishes? No sir-e, those are all haram for this here guy. One of the advantages of marrying a good Turkish girl you see - they're usually well groomed from home and know that some tasks are simply not done by men. The above being only a few examples. My new hero is her uncle. Extremely nice guy, and more than just a little rich. That barstward has never, not once, done any domestic work. Hell, he probably don't even know how a vacuum cleaner works. And why should he bother, with a nice wife and a housemaid to keep him in Raki and sandwiches?
He's a sailor too, incidentially. We're off in April for a cruise departing Bodrum. Nice "little" 82 feet Gulet, with 4 crew members to pamper us. Perfect mix that is - 4 guests and 4 crew.
Thinking of renting for a booze cruise if any of the regulars here are interested. Rate in early October is around EUR 1500/day all inclusive (diesel, food, drinks etc). She sleeps 12 in 6 cabins, all with private bathroom. Lemme know if it tickles your fancy, already got a Swede and Aussie signed up, both 757 skippers with the yellow brigade.
Quick edit to insert picture of Gulet, for those of you not fully conversant in things nautic:

Just had the department new years do in a nice Italian restaurante. Plenty of red wine, which didn't do much harm, but the owner came down with the home made Limoncello just as the boss had paid the bill. Faaark, that shyte hits. Well, according to my fake Breitling it's now 15:30 local, which means I only have to sit in front of the 'puter for another hour before we potter off to the local watering hole to get throughly shytefaced. Hi Flip Flop.
Allah knows ya did change lifestyle, going from single to married, not only that, but to marry a muslim...Hat of to her for eating pork and drinking ya under the table...And for marrying you...Truly a good sport..(Does she have a younger sister?..:E)
The boat looks just fine and I would be the first one to sign up for Flip's Uncle's booze cruise, but as usual, days off are not what they used to be when I was un-employed.
Today just back from VVI, a truly fine place with a female to male ratio of 4 to 1 or something to that effect. What it means is that there is a lot of prime puzzy floating around, surrounded by a pretty Spanish speaking life support system. Fine young things they are and they seem to like mature men from Norway and other capitalist places. Climate is good in Bolivia and so is the food. Top it off with cheap living and ya are close to paradise....
I'm drunk, I'm drunk, I'm drunk.
Hmm, nothing earth shaking there. In fact that was my state of mind on a very regualr bases before I got married. After the knot is tied and the hoenymoon is over, one gets in trouble on a regular bases for being just that. (Drunk :=)
Allah is indeed akbar.
So they say, but at 0400 in the morning while trying to stave off a hang-over and having the speakers blare Allah Akbar, sounding more like a cow being raped, I went downstairs and cut the wires to the speakers. Only then did the TowerDog sleep well the rest of the day in a certain Middle Eastern country that that was as fukked up as the rest of them.
The moral of the story is: Don't sing that tune too loud early in the morning..It hurts and it brings back memories of the TowerDog almost spending the rest of his life in a sand-box jail....

Yeah Guttn, I suppose so..I was over there for more years than I care to think about, although it gives me the creepy "Earned my dues feeling".
On the other hand, whenever I go back to the sand box I get this love-hate feeling as now I am home again..:ugh:
Perhaps not so much in the Middel East, Saudi, Egypt, Kuwait, Dubai, etc. althought Allah knows I have paid my dues there, but rather South Asia and especially India....
India was my first contract, hauling DC-8s for Air India Cargo. Also my first jet and first 121 ACMI place.
That was back in 1988 when some of the kids on this here forum were crawling around the carpet with diapers around their arses howling for mama when, but not if, it got too moist back there.
That being said, the Big Dog don't take no credit for having "been there, done that". The whole place is a sh!t-hole and I'd take my hat off to anybody getting a decent job from out of flight school and not having to go that route and sell yer soul hauling junk out of 3rd world places.
Good experience as far as yer flying skills and radio-work, but not good for family life and pension points. (non-sced flying don't pay no pension or retirement.) Stick with SAS or Widerøe for lubing up yer old days with premium Frog Juice as well as leggy F/As with a secret lust for mature men and 4 stripes..Way to go. :=

TD, I guess it`s one of those "good to have done it, but even better now that it`s done" things:bored:. It seems the trend nowadays is to switch companies just because it`s the trend. Guttn,
Going from nice, steady jobs to more sketchy ones for whatever reason. Hope they find what they`re looking for though.
Face it Guttn, there is no such thing as a steady job. I`m sure TD can second that. You can have all the fancy permanent contracts in the world, if your airline goes tits up, you`re history.
Switching jobs can be positive beyond doubts. First of all, as a Norwegian, if you venture outside Steinroeysa you will discover that there is a world South Of Droebak. Not many Norwegian passport holders know that. Then, you will notice that the sandpit is warmer than Finnmarksvidda, that your new SOP is as good as your old one, and that a hand-shake does not mean that the other person wants to steal your fingers.
I have met too many fellow Norwegians down route, and I dare say that too many should have done their homework before packing the suitcase.
TD,
Bolivia. Never had the chance to sing and dance around that area. With Bolivia not on my map I have to vote for Asia, Africa and as #3, Middle East. Lots of good stuff to taste, and some of it smells good too ;)

Schneeplanking is for misadjusted kids with baggy pants, stupid hats who rather smoke grass than drink scotch. It's just not on mate, it's anti-christ impersonated and every schneeplanker above the age of 16 should be shot on sight, legally if not on a reward basis.
Does it show that I don't fancy schneeplanking (snowboarding)?

Aye boys, we have been on the wagon for a month?
Quiet in the bar for sure.
Lets stir up some dust, perhaps even smoke out Flaps 40.
Let's start with a Blonde Joke:
A state trooper pulls a car over on a lonely back road and approaches the blonde lady driver. "Ma'am, is there a reason that you're weaving all over the road?"
The woman replied, "Oh officer, thank goodness you're here!! I almost had an accident! I looked up and there was a tree right in front of me. I swerved to the left and there was another tree in front of me. I swerved to the right and there was another tree in front of me!"
Reaching through the side window to the rear view mirror, the officer replied, "Ma'am... that's your air freshener."
A guy is having a drink in a very dark bar. He leans over to the big woman next to him and says, "Do you wanna hear a funny blonde joke?" The big woman replies, "Well, before you tell that joke, you should know something. I'm blonde, six feet tall, 210 lb., and I'm a professional triathlete and bodybuilder. The blonde woman sitting next to me is 6'2", weighs 220 lb., and she's an ex-professional wrestler. Next to her is a blonde who's 6'5", weighs 250 lb., and she's a current professional kick boxer. Now, do you still want to tell that blonde joke?"
The guy thinks about it a second and says, "No, not if I'm going to have to explain it three times."

But out flying Mr. TD? Chasing Easterbunnies below the equator perhaps?
Aye, the last few trips have been all domestic US. Had a red-eye special from Miami to Las Vegas, 24hrs lay-over, then back at night again.
Easy flying for sure, like stealing candy from kids...Not that I uh, know how, but heard it is easy.
Lots of tourists and hookers in Vegas for sure. Did not try my luck at the tables but my co-worker went to town with $400.00 and returned with $95.00 or so. He is also Norwegian, on PPrUne now and then, and quite profitable for the casino's and bars in Vegas...Come on Bjørn A, fezz up and say hello to the boys in Scandiland..
The next trip was also inland US, this time to Los Angeles, but daytime.
Another easy ride, like shooting fish in a barrel. Radar contact all the way, fully automatic aeromachine (B757), no squaks, no problems, no un-ruly pax, no lisping gay flight attendants, no bad weather, no nothing to put a finger on. (Or in, that was the problem perhaps.:E)
In other words, all is well in the colonies.
Had 4 days off now with lots of good food and drink in the dog, then tomorrow an easy afternoon flight to Venezuela (MAR) for short lay-over, then MAR-MIA, MIA-PUJ, PUJ-MIA on Thursday. Not a party trip with only 10:30 in MAR, but short-time is also ok...:)

Hmm, that seems like an excellent idea: Interestingly enough, I bought a bottle of Finlandia in San Salvador today, $9.00. Now that I am prepared I can travel around offering pregnancy testing.
Where does the MIA base 757/767 flights go? Domestic, South and Central America + Caribbean of course. How about Europe and Hawaii? Just curious!
All of the above, except Hawaii.
Plenty of domestic stuff, which I shy away from this time of the year. One could end up in Boston, Chicago, New York or other cold places. (It is known to God and to Mankind that the old dog does not perform well in cold climes. He does it best between palmtrees and in sunshine)
Plenty of South America including "Deep South", Santiago, Sao Paulo, Rio, etc. Also Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru and such.
What goes on down there, during the lay-overs and between the sheets would make a sailor blush, trust you me....
(Hint, 1 hour with Miss Brazil can be had for 120 roses..:E)
So, uh back on subject, where does the twin-Boings fly out of MIA...?
Many fun places.
Also expensive European towns, Paris and Madrid, been to both recently, but with the US dollar in the toilet one can barely afford a ham and cheese sandwich and not at all dinner and drinks in town...
Hint to frozen Scandimen: Take yer next vacation in Santa Cruz, Bolivia and don't bring the old lady. (Ya will thank me for the tips, but no need to send money, just drop a case of beer on my doorstep and don't spread the word, that place is pristine and so is the local wildlife..;))

....hate tuna, soooo...
I usually bring a bag of MRP (Meal Re-Placement).
Usually "Fresh Chocolate".
Usually mixed with some milk bought at one of the Statoil's at OSL.
(At 17 NKr / liter!!! Who said petrol is expensive?!!?)
Noggie prices drive me nuts!!
73 NKr for a ½liter of Guiness!!!:{ I neeeed Guiness, so being without it is not an option!:E

TD, you need to get your folks at AA to start flying to OSL. The only airline flying between the US (EWR) and the homeland of the vikings :E is Continental with a 757-200 (or is it a 300...?): Personally I think it`s cr@p to have to go somewhere in Europe for a connecting flight to the US (with the exemption of said airline of course :})

I am all for AA flying to OSL, especially from MIA, but don't see it happen anytime soon. Them beancounters look at yield only and if an airframe can make more dough flying from Kansas City to Disneyland, that is where the flight go.
Not many Yanks wanne go on vacation to Norway, and those who do look for the lowest fare rather than non-stop. and in many cases Air Frog or KLM will sell the cheap ticket with a stop in their hub.
My butt is in Dallas right now, headed to Frog Town this afternoon. Anybody else laying over there tomorrow? If so take contact and we shall go to town:cool:

So, uh no mercy, the memories of having Flip Flop Flyer and similar flatlanders rule the masters of the North indeed needs corrective action and you will never forget the unjust treatment as long as the Norske's are in charge of them braincells, on the other hand, payment to justice can be made to the TowerDog's beer-fund and then some..So don't be shy, bow yer head in guilt while ya cut a check and lick the stamp for the letter containing the check to TowerDog's house. There is a huge difference between eating your neighbors cat, and eating your neighbors pussy. Something related to number of Tequilas consumed I think. The number being directly related to age and/or look of neighbor (and cat).
