Hi Guys
Can anybody reccomend a good tax accountant or specialist pref in the London area that is used to dealing with aircrews. I have found a few but would rather go by reccomendation.
Thanks a lot.

Hi Aunt Sally.
Please provide details which country the tax returns need to be lodged in and I may be able to help?

When I first arrived in Dubai, I thought I had better sort out my tax implications. I approached the Frygroup and this was the worst possible move I could have made. They cost me money. I was asked how many flights to the UK I had completed from the time I had left the UK until the end of the tax year. This amounted to 3. I was then taxed at full whack for 3/365ths of my present salary. I cant remember how much that exactly was. There view at the time was that if you had set up a flight deck in the UK you were officially working there. Therefore I parted with about 150 GBP. I was not happy with this tax consultants advice. I paid the money and actually strangely enough contacted the tax office in Worthing. The guy I spoke to not only helped me but I also got a refund. He advised me that the advice I had received from Wilfred Fry was crap. I got a refund and a tax rebate. In additon, I have not filled out a return since (several years now) that was on the advice of the tax office. Needless to say I have also had no further dealings with the Fry Group.
I guess mine might have been an isolated incident !

Uplink,
Don't really understand your experience. Fry's have always prepared my return and then presented it to the Tax Office and they accept or correct it.
I have always had good advice at a reasonable cost.:ok:

Busy,
Not really alot to understand. They screwed up my tax return, culminating in me having to pay money I neednt have paid. I dont think its the norm but in addition, I also dont think its an isolated incident.
Bikker comment below you seems to confirm this. I was very surprised at the info especially as the guy I dealt with used to be a tax man. Maybe I just was unlucky with the Fry group and lucky with the tax man.

Also use TheFryGroup and last year paid around £600 or so. Not cheap but depends if you have assets there and associated complications. Find them generally up to speed although they are a pain regarding details of UK landings/take offs etc. No others seem to bother with that.
However, the first couple of grand in earnings is tax free so you should never be in the situation where you pay any tax on your EK income. You'd need to be flying to UK on EVERY trip to be paying UK tax. I guess in Uplink's case the guy forgot to apply this personal allowance.
