Hi Folks,
I need to do a LearJet 35 Command Rating and was wondering if anyone could help me out. I would like to hear from anyone who has done one and have actual figures on cost and so on. I would appreciate any help I can get. I need to know where is the best place and what am I expected to pay. I received some info from Panam and FlightSafety already and they are charging US$ 10,700 and $19,000 respectively. I am continuosly told by people that I can get it between US$6,000-7,000. Can anyone shed some light on this for me??? Thank you.

I did my Citation Captain rating with a small part 135 Carrier. in US.
Cost me less than 5000 USD at the time.
They also do Lear ratings and I think the price was around 6500 to 7500 USD depending on which Lear you where doing.
School is located in LAX basin at KVNY ( Van Nuys airport ) and called Chyrsler Aviation.
They where a bit disorganised and a lot of effort was required to get everything to work smoothly. Regardless they are very accomodating and will give a class to you alone. I called them Thursday, stopped by on Friday and started class on monday.

Did mine at simuflite dallas, about 3 months ago.
Instructors were great, both ground and sim.
Don't know what it cost as the company paid for it, and it was a JAA rating, but highly recommended anyway.
Sorry i can't be more helpful!

I got my LRJET type at simuflight in Dallas in 1997 and I think they were charging around $10,500 then. I found the instructors there the most knowledeable that I've ever had at a training center. They all had experience in the airplane which was a great benefit unlike some of the instructors I've had since then at flightsafety.

Having received training at all four companies mentioned. Let me pass on a few tidbits. First Pan Am. I was extremely unimpressed with them. They are definately not the old Pan Am. They are just trading off the name. The business class aircraft don't even play second fiddle there. More like third or forth. And even Stel at Chrysler is more organized. As for Chrysler, I got my type rating there. Stel will work with folks. But it is quick and dirty. You will have to do a great deal of studying on your own. Simuflite. I have never been happy with Simuflite. First off it is a large facility, so at the lest you feel like just a number. Second, they are not too accomadating on special requests, like certain approaches, etc. Flight Safety. I have only dealt with the Wichita facility, so I can only talk about that one. I have gone there for years and have been very happy. It is a small facility right across the street from the factory (yes, factory tours are possible). Just about everyone there has been there for years and is extremely knowledgable about the aircraft.
Good luck.

I agree with Rick1128, i went to Witchita back in 1994 and was well impressed with them.
As you may know the L35 can be a handfull on one engine especialy near V - Ref, and i think uncle Craig Newall [ the boss there and aptly nicknamed King Lear ]and his team are the only ones who have a learjet training pedigree, so don;t waste your money elsewhere just go straight to FlightSafety
