OK first ever thread starter.........
On the back of the yeovil fisty cuffs end/middle of the night fight, with the PPRUNE comments about Officer/NCO night out conduct, I find i am interested in how many people would prefer to 'run ashore' with your lads and lasses or go for dull dishwater in a mug with your airborne brethren?
Personally prefer the lads and lasses option, at least they are all down to earth and not ignorrant c= ###s!, oh and outside planet reebok they don't inheret your stripes while your away and gain an interest in flowers whilst forgetting to shave their legs!!! B*******d

It's a very affected way of writing a post and smacks too much of Staff College. Personally, I think they should be taken outside and shot.....

Not you.
You sound like an odious comprehensive school oik, with a massive chip on your shoulder about your betters.
I suspect that the 'lads and lasses' find you pretty tedious, too, if you whinge on to them as much as you managed to in your post above, and if you do so with so little wit, humour, charm or grace.
And coherence.
Still, if you have been commissioned yourself (no doubt from the ranks - they do make occasional mistakes) your 'lads and lasses' can't tell you to pi$$ off when you inflict yourself upon them.
As a civvy, I have to say that I've enjoyed drinking with officers and NCOs, air and groundcrew, from all of the services. You service types are generally an outstanding bunch of blokes, and it's a privilege to have known those of you that I've met since my own modest service, 25 years ago!

Boombouy, no preference either way as there are absolute tossers in both groups. The best ones to go on the lash with are those that leave their rank at the gate and just go out for a good time, though in my experience the Army and Navy find this more difficult to do than the RAF.

I despise the "OR , other ranks" or "betters" Jibes. Yes you might have had a more priveliged upbringing or may have been slightly quicker on the uptake at school. That does not make you a better person than someone who has chosen to maintain aircraft, or carry out Admin duties etc.
On another thread a certain C130J Co-Pilot was dragged over the coals for saying something similar.

I'm not pretending to be one of this odious little tick's betters, but the airborne brethren ("ignorrant c= ###s!") he despises most certainly are.

I feel your pain. I too would be appalled if one of my erstwhile NCOs came out on a night out without having shaved his legs. One really can't get the staff these days, can one?
