While listening to "Yesterday in parliament" this morning while shaving, it was reported that some parliamentarian stated that there were more RAF fighters in museums than there were operational in the RAF.
Is this really true ??????

I half heard that as well. Sounded like William Hague made it and I thought he said there were more combat aircraft in the museum at Hendon than in the RAF..

To give you a rough idea. The RAF has about 400 aircraft and there are about 350 Hunters still in existance.
Amount of aircraft in the RAF is inversely proportional to the amount of Air Ranks it has.

Perhaps more worrying is the number of combat aircraft we have that should be in a museum!!

You can't say that especially as the Saudis are getting the Typhoon before we do............:bored:
So Saudi will be gettingTyphoon before us then....:ugh:
How come we have Typhoons at Cgy now and the 1st Tranche 2 Typhoons will go to the OEU before the Saudis get theirs?
Come on ratty1 if you are going to make an informed statement at least get it right!!!:=

Quite right - sorry, should have just said statement.
However, whilst the 35 ac may have been a true statement, I do not see how the Saudi’s can get Typhoon before us if we already have them? They maybe getting some of our initial Tranche 2 ac but my understanding is that they will not be the leader in getting them – I could be wrong though and if so I will apologies to ratty1.
