Any one knows how many are being interviewed by EK per month and what is a percentage of interviewees being offered a job.

Sorry to disappoint you, but you might be in for a very long wait if you are in the hold pool. According to our management, we have around 15000 to 20000 candidates per month for a pilot position in EK. Even if HR can interview 1000 guys per month, their backlog would grow every month with about 1 year. The only official advice I can give you based on these FACTS is to be very patient...
BTW, Just between us, nothing official here, and please don't go and tell.. Most guys on the interviews applied less then 2 months before. EK is desperate for people. Having said that, the recruitment is still quite difficult. Last week, 6 out of 7 guys were send home after day 1. Although, seeing who comes online lately, it's probably just a matter of luck to get in, a bit like the EK upgrade, kind of a lottery. Not bad if you like games..
Again, don't tell around, I wouldn't want star command to wake up from sweet dreams. (Buzz Lightyear to star command, come in star command...)

Well, the source for the official part of my post is our well known TCAS (aka little Alan). As for the unofficial part, the rumour, I just happened to know a guy who failed last week (one of the 6 out of 7). Although he told me the story first hand over a beer, it is of course not official EK propaganda... hehe

The numbers seem to vary.
The most important is to get thru the first day (sim)
On my group we started with 11 and then the 2nd day there were 7 left.
Now they have taken 4, 2 waiting and 1 got the No.
A friends group: all those got in, (that got to the 2nd day)
Then another group: only 1 got in...............
Anyway, good luck, go their, give it your best and be yourself. :)

Do please enlighten us all with the basis for this sniping comment. In my experience of training and working with ex-Varig F/Os and DECs, they have proved to be solid, professional aviators speaking perfectly acceptable English.
Oh, by the way FM, you show your own ignorance by not knowing that Brazilians (note spelling) speak Portuguese as a native language.

Could not have said it better, Seniortrash. And some of the areas where the Varig pilots have flown to and learned to fly, in Central and South America, makes the route structure at EK look like child's play. But then again with a "moniker" like FM, would you expect anything less from him?

I assumed he misspelled "manual." Perhaps he meant Manuel, a commom first name. Oh well, what the hell :)

Since we're talking Brazilian........
Donald Rumsfeld briefed the President this morning. He told Bush that Three Brazilian soldiers were killed in Iraq .
To everyone's amazement, all of the color ran from Bush's face, then he collapsed onto his desk, head in hands, visibly shaken, almost whimpering. Finally, he composed himself and asked Rumsfeld,
"Just exactly how many is a brazillion?" :} :} :}

Perhaps YOU too would care to enlighten us on why ex-VARIG pilots are taking so much stick - by innuendo.
I maintain my original position that these guys in EK in my experience are a good bunch of operators.

I was part of the group last week where 6 out of 7 got cut on the 1st day. They were all great guys and all were highly qualified. I went to the interview for the adventure and the free trip to Dubai. I did a little bit of sandbagging on day 1 because I really did not want to return for day 2 and day 3 screening. After I received my phone call I graciously thanked them for the opportunity and after hanging up the phone I pumped my fist and said "YES!!!" Now the fun and vacation begins. Dubai was an awesome trip but I would NEVER consider moving there. If anyone wants gouge on the sim and written test PM me and I will gladly help out. All questions were multiple choice and pretty easy. I'm sure the test changes from month to month but this will give you an idea.

F/O's selection success rate is 40%, DEC's is 20%. EK is not desperate for drivers! We were 10 candidates - 1 F/O and 1 DEC made it. Some were qualified B777 captains and F/O's with Varig! Do not bull:mad: t yourself and think you will walk into a flying carreer at EK!

If they are qualified 777 and have passed the tech quize why is the failure rate so high.

Think you will find CRM and language to be a big factor, probably as much or more so than the tech side of things.. nothing to do with drivers from above mentioned countries, or airlines.. just a general statement regarding screening procees' of Gulf airlines in general...

Well, then all future candidates would be well advised to complete the online, anonymous Pelesys CRM course. They will be perfectly prepared for the ek view of things ....

EK gets 15000 to 20000 applications per month, which equates to between 180,000 and 240,000 applications per year. You guys believe that? Add all the pilots at all the major airlines in the world and see what the shortfall is.
Come on, how many pilots are there in the world? DUH!!

I don't have the numbers yet who were hired but I will give you details on the interview numbers. I interview last week Dec 10-12. We had 7 that started and only 4 made it to the second day. The next group that started on Mon had 11 that started and 10 made it, the group that started on Tues had around 10 also and I'm not sure how many made it. Just some info from our group...These were the nicest people I have ever interviewed with. I hope they call and so does the other three guys. They acutally treat you like a real person over there and we tried to find something negative but we couldn't, we were all very impressed. Thanks to everyone at Emirates even if I don't get called I would recommend them to everyone.
