With nobody else with you, i'd say you are guaranteed 100 percent of getting hired. All the best! :}

Out of curiosity, how long did you have to wait before being invited out for an interview?

Pilot444,

Good luck in your interview but be skeptical at anything they tell you. You need everything in writing - although that won't help because policies shift quickly in Dubai. This is not like America where contracts can be upheld in court. My suggestion is that you check out Emirates and Dubai, listen to what they have to say, and then after some deep consideration, go to Jet Blue, AirTran or Southwest. The big shiny jets at Emirates cannot overcome the cultural change and the countless broken promises that you will experience at EK.

Just ask yourself one question: why are so many people fleeing EK? Shouldn't they be happy flying a 777 in the desert? I guess not...

Southwest I'd agree to, but the other two??? The only thing they share with Southwest is geographical location.....

B737NG FO - that's what I was a few years ago and that's what I'll go back to in a few months. EK just ain't worth it. Good luck at the interview but more importantly - good luck with your decision!

pilot444,

would be a waste of money. Although most people will be hired for the Boeing fleet, your interview sim might be on Boeing or Airbus (A330 or even A310). It all just depends on where they have open sim time available. So don't waste your money, you will need it when you eventually get here...

True, I did mine on the A310 sim (although configured for A300), and I'd been on FBW aircraft for the preceeding 5 years, hadn't touched a trim wheel or Auto Throttle for that long, but it didn't matter!

They are not looking for pure flying skill, only:
1.Good CRM
2.Good flight deck management
3.Good SA
4.Good descision making (I've heard of guys who didn't land the Sim, or even manage to 'Round up' the ILS who got the job, because they made the right descision and went around!)

You will not be expected to know anything about the A/C you do the sim in (in fact if you are already type rated on it, they will expect a much higher standard!), they will tell you to operate it just like your current type, including calling for your own flap settings/speeds etc.

Enjoy

pilot444 do not worry about EFIS, the PFD has the same horizon than the one you have in your old 737, they will brief you about the speed tape and the altitude tape but nothing to worry the same than your altimeter and velocimeter, about the ND they will change the map mode to the vor mode so will be the same than yours even bigger, use the same procedures you use at your company, remember callouts and ask for checklists. first you will take off without autothrottle and without automatic pilot to fly a visual pattern and return to land. second you will take off again with the autothrottle and will have an engine failure just at v1 so you fly the aircraft with one engine and return to land with the ILS, no runway in sight go around with one engine and return to land again.
Thatīs all. Better you convince them that you wont have any problem with the difference of culture. i hope this work for you. good luck

Good luck to all of you interviewing. Also thank you for the postings here. I am going for my interview on Feb 5. If anyone can share any further information besides that posted here, I would really appreciate it.

Also, those of you returning from the Jan interviews, if it is not a bother or inconvenience, please share your experience with us next group (or PM me).

Looking forward to hearing from some of you, in the meantime, again thank you and good luck. :ok:

Hi Gents
I personally don't give a r..ta.. about flying for mrats but as managment seems a bunch of tossers and i like a week of free holiday in the european winter ,we might find each other
2 questions:Do they pay your ticket to come to the interview (now that they are so desperatelly looking for pilots again) and do they bump you out of the hotel you stay in if you get kicked out the very first morning of your interview
thank you for the answers and good luck to you all in your fight for better terms
