Hi,
last night was talking to a Emiratie friend of mine that is in the Emirates cadet scheme. He was telling me that a Emirates Capt. has managed to get his son (who is not local or part of GCC) to tag along with the emirates cadets and go through the whole training with them(and is paying for it).
Does anyone have any info to add to this or this simply a case of someone paying for training and will not be affiliated with emirates after the training is complete ?
cheers

Oh really? And are UAE nationals entitled to be in the Qantas or BA Cadet schemes?
Get real. Cadet schemes world over have always been for local citizens.

I believe this has happened once, a few years back when an Indian national went through the cadet scheme. However I believe his father was exremely well connected in the government and had lived and contributed to the UAE for much of his life. Also I believe his family was given UAE citizenship before he eventuallly joined.
A friend of mine has just joined EK as a cadet. He was a captain for another airline in the UAE with about 5000hrs total time, 2000 Turboprop. He had applied for EK as a cadet after his family had been given honourary UAE citizenship, however they still did not look at him until he had got the UAE passport himself. And according to him and training captains I know, it is unlikely they will ever take other nationalities as cadets. As Wizofos said, do you see UAE nationals cadets in any other airlines?
The only chance of low hour foreign pilots joining EK will be Tuboprop guys with a couple of thousand hours, and even that seems unlikly to happen in the forseeable future, if ever.
If this guy is joining the cadets in Australia, Im sure it is just a case of him doing his training at the same time. He will just be doing his training privately at the same school, with no affiliation to EK. I could put money on him NOT joining the cadets in the A330 sim once they are finished their course in Oz.
Cheers DB :ok:
