So why don't you guys go to Australia? A lot of airlines are sending their trainees there. Perhaps you should have a good look at the schools there. Also the Oz licence has a better standing than the FAA licence.

Is this a question or a statement?

The boy does have a point, plenty of wannabees have denied access and many kicked, check the local Texas news about how syrian and sudanese students got kicked out the country. Some of them happened to be people I know...

NearlyMan,
Unfortunately, U R right in not giving them a VISA, although they are pilots and coming as crew. I have so many friends flying with some airlines, they only fly into Europe and some other pilots continue the flight into US, this is what they call it FREEDOM, may be the other airlines or countries will do the same to the pilots when they fly into there main land.

Care to quantify and/or elaborate?

He probably means that it is more easilily converted to other ICAO licenses. For example, someone with a low hour ATPL will have to do nearly all the theory exams in Hong Kong whereas an Australian ATPL holder will have to do only a few.

Nearly man is asking..as he is a PROFESSIONAL PILOT who operates for an airline in europe, he is not a spotter, terrorist, enthusiast, or otherwise...so please stop all the idiotic comments.
Mr Daggers...nice one buddy, lovely way to perpetuate stereotypes of redneck septic tanks:hmm:

Arab countries are also very hard to get a visa to. Unless you have a skill they need. How many refugees live in the arab world? Not too many I think, they usually end up in OZ, US or Europe...

haughtney1, give me a brake, will ya!! Professional pilot who leaves the cockpit to pray in the front galley two three times a flight with all the F class passengers seen 4 bars banging the head against the floor. People who cant separate religion from the rest in their life. Recently a co-pi told me about an Arab born skipper he flown with that the guy was happy 9/11 happened and over 3000 people died and US deserved that. You don't seriously even for a sec expect yanks to let anybody like that fly into US as a professional pilot, do ya dude? I'm not against religions like Islam or Christianity or whatever but you know it I know it everyone else knows it, when it comes to religion "Islam" some of those guys can be pretty nasty and they will easily change their professional attitude towards religious one. So no wonder the yanks are very reluctant to issue a visa, they know what they're doing. At the end of the day most of them do hate US so why to fly there? Yea right, I forgot its the best shopping.
Mind ya that all the culprits of the last terror plot in the UK were UK citizens but adherent to Islam or better to say were trying to justify their actions through their religion. None of the religions do encourage to kill or to be a terrorist but tell that Al Qaeda and their buddies.

The original question was ,are any arab borne pilots having difficulty getting US visas via their airline. There`s 2 groups of people who know the answer to this , first , being those arab borne pilots that have unexplained gaps in their 10 year histories ( duhh off to Kandahar to build sand castles with the Sheikh again.. or maybe just skirting off to Europe of Australia to avoid military service back " home " .) and other traceable deeds/ misdeeds that have brought their names/aliases to the attention of those granting said US visa , comprendo ? The other group is the DHS , and boy , they`ve learned A LOT.

Where did I say that? (stop inventing things to try and prove a nefarious point) Please go back and read the original post...where does it say he is a practising Muslim?
Recently a co-pi told me about an Arab born skipper he flown with that the guy was happy 9/11 happened and over 3000 people died and US deserved that
Where did it say..or was even implied that this guy supported 9/11..?
At the end of the day most of them do hate US so why to fly there? Yea right, I forgot its the best shopping.
Who is them? (oh yes thats right its the muslims!:hmm: )
Why fly there? because perhaps his airline flys there...and he wants to know if would have any difficulties obtaining a Visa to fly there.

So? there have been at least 3 americans arrested in the middle east operating as terrorists...:=

From what I've seen, they have a problem. They go under extreme scrutiny whenever they apply for their crew visa & if they get it, its valid for only 6 months. Other nationalities get it for 5 years.

haughtney1, listen mate u don't have to tell me anything. I do fly in the F class occasionally and saw it myself. Don't forget, QR is ME carrier and vast majority are Muslim pilots. I see and hear the things on daily basis opposite to ya. U wanna bring it to the point there u go: Yes, any Arab born pilot will undergo a heavy security check before issued a visa if at all especially if flying in as a pilot. I hope I don't have to tell u how sensitive that issue is. I assume you heard of the Egypt air crash in 99? Luckily they crashed into the see. One of the versions was the guy committed suicide. Have u ever heard of an Western airline pilot deliberately crashing a plane because the guy wanted to die? Its not US who wants them to come, its them who want to fly there and its up the US authorities to decide whether or not to issue the visa. Its not any one's right to get the visa but its prerogative of the authorities to decline it without any explanation. Mind you that usually an airline isn't only flying to US. I don't think there'll be any problem to schedule Muslim pilots to fly to ME or any other Muslim country at least not from a immigration's point of view. Whether u like it or not its a matter of national security and US takes it very seriously and I can guarantee u the yanks do have experts in that regard. They will screen the candidate's past until the very moment he/she was born and that takes time and if any doubts the answer will be NO.:=

I wasn't, I was merely pointing out the glaring holes and self-righteous bigotry in your comments.
I hope I don't have to tell u how sensitive that issue is
You are right, you don't have to....I've been on planet earth for a good few years now.
Its not US who wants them to come
An unfortunate truth

I dont have any issue with that, however your comments in previous posts bely a rather more "narrow minded" view point to this.
As I said previously, Nearly-man is asking because he flys as a professional airline pilot in Europe, he was born in an Islamic country, but has to the best of my knowledge lived for at least the past 35 years in western Europe (which includes all of his adolescent and adult life)

Imagine just for a moment that some Hindu fanatics blew up the holy Etisalat
tower in AUH. This to protest the abysmal treatment of workers from the
subcontinent in the Middle Eastern oil rich states.
Now try to imagine the hassle Indian pilots would have to go through to get
a entry permit to these states ..............
Would this part of the world then blame the permit issuers, or rather sypathise
with them and call for the "agressor state" to fully assume responsibilty for the
actions of its citizens and ask them to apologize, even though knowing perfectly
well that the actors were state dissidents and terrorists?
It's always a matter of perspective.

I agree with Flying dagger.
At least he says what most people are not willing to say .ie THE TRUTH.
The other post with the hypothetical "Hindu bomber" in AUH is also spot on.
Could you imagine the governments reaction here if that scenario happened. They would be clamping down on people from that country and quite rightly so.
In my humble opinion the USA has the right to screen the visa applicants and deny as they see fit.
I have also been witness to a 4 gold bars head banging in the F galley ,while i was sitting in the right seat.As FD said these pilots are not able to seperate work from religon and in my mind thats not a good thing irrespective of the religon followed.
What people must realise is that western passengers are suspicious and nervous when it comes to flying in the ME and when a pilot is seen on the floor in a galley it does not inspire confidence.Keep it in the cockpit and do your prayers quietly ,oh I forgot they have to show everyone how pious they are.
Got to love em.......
If my post is a bit unclear i apologise as i am trying to be a bit subtle.
I am reaching for my asbestos suit as i type....

Daggers do you remember a bombing in Oklahoma.
That was done by a bunch of "good ole boys" and whom probably went to church on Sundays for the better part of their lives...

I know of one Brit/Lebanese flight attendant who was bumped off a BA flight to LAX, just because his name was similar to some name in the yankee's list.

Good point. In a number of countries the social pressure is quite extreme and the result is that it has become more important to be seen to be a good Muslim, regardless of one's actual lifestyle.

Whats the point? If you buy a ticket on an islamic airline, expect to see muslims. As long as you dont see both pilots praying in the forward galley, you will probably be ok:rolleyes:

Flying Daggers you little piece of s**t,you are contradicting your self by hitting on people who "cant seperate religion from the rest in their life" although you are makeing a lot of hassle on the same issue, your the one who cant bear the issue of religon and being seperate from your life, not other people's,this only means that your expecting tolerance and understanding from other people, and in the same time you dont even put an effort in practising them.
Dont you be falling in the trap of mocking other religon practices, whatever your religon is, I am quite sure that if I want,I'll be able to make a laughing stock out of it,but out of respect, I wont ,some thing you have to learn you as***le.

Thread closed - what a xenophobic miscreant you are GoreTex. Haughtney's comment popped my circuit-breaker but after he pointed it out to me I realized his comment was tongue-in-cheek.
