F/O salary with GF?

Does anyone know what is currently to be expected as the initial salary as an F/O with GF? Would be a great help! :rolleyes:

All rates in Bahraini Dinars $1 USD/ BD 0.375:

Total 1674.439

A combination of unscheduled overtime, call outs, crew meals in flight, duty time and partial call outs brought the net up another BD670 or so.

Nice detailed information you posted here, but do you mind if I expand the 670 BD?

So,basic 1675 BD (if you're married).

On top of this:

Time away from base (like a cab) is 1,5 BD per hour. 200/300 hours of time away equals: 300/450 BD. So, this depends of your roster and I think 300 hours of time away is the top scale one might expect. Usually less.

As for overtime, some people always get them, some others don't.

One thing is certain, you will have to complement your poor housing allowance with 150-200 a month to live in a decent place. There are many threads about GF Housing.
Another point is schooling. You will have to complement it as well, heavily.

Be aware of this when you are calculating your budget.

My impression is that as a Captain you can afford a good std, however for a FO with family things are different.

Of course you may. I was lazy and just opted to plagarize my last pay statement.

zuhura, the pay scale never means much unless you put it in context of cost of living. My pay scale is more than what members of the National Assembly make in my country of nationality, and would allow me to buy a beautiful beachfront home, however, in Bahrain this is not so based on local costs of living. As LDG NO BLUE underscores, depending on your standard of living, hobbies and size of family, there may be savings or not. The greatest risk is if your wife is not able to work (which is the case if she comes to Bahrain under your sponsorship). A bored and lonely wife, and a group of similar wives with plenty of shopping malls, clubs and restaurants to chose from is a risk to your possibly frugal efforts.

Still, things are probably easier going than in Doha or Dubai, from what I've read and seen.

As mentioned before the variable pay in GF varies A LOT. Myself had time away as follows:

May- 246.5 hours

June- 256.4 hours

July- 238.1 hours

August-191.9 hours

Of course no overtime or day off call out(apart from the day of the world cup final between France and Italy that misteriosly everybody when sick). As you can see these figures are very far from the 670 dinars.

You are inaccurate again concerning Dubai.

Shopping, including groceries, is significantly cheaper in Dubai compared with Bahrain. Only housing is more expensive in DXB, but if you work for the right airline you will be provided with free A-class accomodation and you do not have to subsidize housing with your basic salary as it is the case in GF.

In addition as an EPC member (EK Pilot Club) you get discounts almost everywhere; restaurants, coffee shops etc. Furthermore you and your partner get free access to several beach, recreational and gym facilities at 5 star hotels. :cool:

Do not believe everything you read on PPRUNE about EK/ DXB because it just aint true;)

hi everyone, i'm selected as a cabin crew in gf as i should be leaving for training this sunday. i'm worried about the accomodation and i'm asking specifically about having a free internet connection from my own room. some gals said there's 2 to 3 computers in every building's hall to access the internet for free,but for nearly 30 min in order to be shared fairly. so what about if i hv a laptop, could i access the net from my room, and whether it would be for free or i hv to pay any monthly fees, thanx, bye ;)

Yup, internet connections in the Cabin Crew apartments is an issue.

There are a few options. One is going to one of many internet cafes, where getting on line is fairly cheap.

Some cabin crew friends go to Costa Coffee, where if you buy a cup of coffee they give you a internet password valid for an hour or more so you can surf with your wireless connection on your laptop while getting your caffeine fix.

BATELCO also used to sell (they probably still do) dial-up internet connection cards for a few dinars. Then you only need to be on good terms with your flat-mates to use the phone line for an extended period of time.

Many of the buildings also have lan internet outlets(free of charge) in each flat even some of the older bldgs so it's the luck of the draw whether your flat has one or not

Frozen Turtle... you are inaccurate about life in DXB...:=
"A Class accomodation"?... I don't know where you come from, or what your personal standards are, (these obviously vary), but for our family the accomodation is only just adequate... nothing more. Construction standards are poor, fit and finish are terrible. Today, there isn't enough water pressure to have a shower. All the plumbing leaks, albeit at different times... the wiring is not properly grounded... it is very noisy as we are adjacent to a major thoroughfare...
As for the EK Pilots club, admittedly we get some discounts, and that is nice. However, it is not free. We pay a small monthly fee for ourselves and our family for membership in the EPC. These monies are used by EPC to purchase the discounts. And the discounts only apply to select retailers with whom there is an agreement. Politiclly I am right wing, but the EPC is a very good use of collectivism...
As for free access to the beach clubs... you are incorrect again. That is paid for by the collective dues... Often the EPC membership list is full, and one is turned away from the club. There are stiff fees for guests, for example if you want to bring the friend of your children...

Hey there,

During the selection process, we might hear that you can expect a certain amount of money coming from your time away.

These 12 values are out of sequence, not necessarily the last 12 months, A320 Fleet.

Time away - block hours

190 - 47
230 - 56
250 - 67
300 - 59
207 - 65
378 - 74
140 - 60
290 - 75
270 - 73
330 - 75
350 - 65
170 - 45

If you want to calculate how much you can make, the taxi fare is 1,5 BD/h.
This is short haul, remember the sector BAH-DXB gives you 45 min flying time and 1.1-1.2 block.

Your basic salary will be from 1600-1700 (depending if you're married, children, etc..).

If you get called out from a day off, you can choose to sell this day from your vacation for 100 BD (FO) or a partial sell for 35 BD (will not be deducted from the balance).

I wouldn't count on this to calculate your budget.

Make your calculations based on basic and time away, this is what you'll get. Remember to deduct 100-200 from this total to complement your housing allowance and that GF pays only around 800 for your childrens education in tender ages.

I hope this helps on your decision-making-process of joining GF.

You've been very lucky it seems with time away from base. In the last 4 months my TAFB has not exceeded 250hrs. I hear there are guys with less than 150hrs TAFB for last month and now September too. Hurts the pocket after a while...

Hi Subsonic,

You have to understand that the number of 320 FOs has increased in the last 6 months, leading to less flying hours for everybody. Some SOs have joined the fleet, as well as new joiners.

Look at the big picture, there will be no excuse of not transfering people to the 330/340 Fleet due to crew shortage on 320.

I say again, the 12 values are scrambled for the sake of privacy.
