Well the Gulf News has really outdone itself this time.

The gruesome, graphic and unnecessary photo of the pilot involved in the Emirates Pilot School Cherokee crash in todays paper was disgusting and typifies the standard this paper represents.

Whether it is car crash victims, war victims or in this case aircraft crash victims there is absolutely no need to display this sad and unnecessary loss of life!

Vehicle, bomb blast or aircraft crashes obviously need to be reported, however, the appauling loss of life is obvious without the graphic representation often used by Middle East, and other sub-continent tabloids and media groups.

The fact is, it seems, that people from these regions are de-tuned to this portrayal of human trajedy so I don't see any need to continue publishing it.

If it is used to administer the 'shock and horror' philosophy to reduce car accidents etc. then its failing on a grand scale.

My sincere thoughts to his family and friends on this sad loss.

The only thing that will reduce traffic accidents in the gulf states is even-handed traffic law enforcement, and that's not an option apparently:ugh:

I think I saw the same photo in the Khaleej Times as well, I am still unsure why they feel the need to publish such photos. Every time I open the local papers I hold my breath to see what scraps of humanity are broken bleeding and burning in a very public way in the glare of technicolour.

Simply no need for it at all.
