Mingalabar,

I don't know too much about Air Bagan other than what's on their website;

http://www.airbagan.com/cockpit_crew.htm

I met a local FO for Air Mandalay a few years ago and he tells he earns about $1000 USD a month. Quite enough by Myanmar standards, but if you're wanting to send money home, then :uhoh:

If you do a search here, there's been some postings from expats who've worked in Myanmar before for either Air Mandalay, Air Bagan or Yangon Airways.

Hi, I know someone who is from Air Mandalay and it seems like Air Bagan is becoming to be the biggest airline there in Myanmar. Because the guy who owns is the guy who can do whatever he wants to do in that country - you know what I mean? He got the power!! So he has some jets, and more jets are comming, got some ATR and some of them are not used and just parked at the hanger but don't worry, money is not a problem! There is only one expats pilot who is the chief pilot for jet but rest of them are all locals. Locals pay is extreamly low, and so any of the airlines in Myanmar are not keen to hire expats. (Don't worry about safety, if there will be an accident, rest of the world wouldn't know anyway.) I am not sure but I have heard that because of this big man is acutually not really popular guy in the world, so it is very difficult to get any real certificate in any other country. Even though, he bought all those aircraft in cash ... He is trying to start the international flight but I don't know if rest of the world would let him. So only the international airline in Myanmar is Air Mandalay. I was told that Air Mandalay also not keen on expats thesedays. I am not sure how much chance you have in this Golden Land for a expats pilot, Maybe you can ring Air Bagan or other airlines, but don't forget, the phoneline is not really good. and cost a lot. Fax is very hard to send.(you need real patience! ) Email maybe the best way to send your CV - I am sure Air Bagan office have good power system - but other residence usually have 7-8hours power cutts. If you live in the apartment, you should not have much problem for power cuts.

Good luck!:ok:

For the person requiring info on the above. Their fleet consists of 5 ATR's. If I recall correctly they are made up of 2x72's & 3x42's. They also have one Fokker 100, with a different rumour all the time of another one on it's way or I believe the latest to be an MD80 coming. There routes consist of domestic flights within Myanmar. Mainly main trunk stuff like Mandalay, Bagan, Heho (Inle) as well as a couple of other destinations to the north & south of Myanmar. They only have one expat pilot that I know of and as Pinkflaps (Ilove the name by the way) says that person is a C&T Capt on the Fokker I believe. For what it's worth by what I hear I wouldn't go near the outfort unless you want to have a short career!

MD80? No way, who told you that? I'm sure I would know. They're trying to get another F100, but getting around the embargos isn't easy, and most aircraft are within the US...

To the others: I'm a former employee, if you have specific questions, feel free to ask me...

G'Day, Safelife!
Well, I have heard from some 6T drivers and a W9 driver about the MD80. But you never know with these people....
