Hi
I have an airside driving test next week but have been given no information or idea as to what it involves or what to expect - could anyone offer me any advice, tips etc?
Thanks in advance:ok:

Yes, don't hit anything ;)
Probably much as you'd expect, although different airports have their own ideas of what it takes to pass.
I would make sure you know where you can and can't go, speed limits, rules for giving way to aircraft, runway crossing with and without radio, various ground marking (CAT III holding positions).
Just make sure you keep a good lookout. The airport wants to make sure you can operate in an unusual environment safely, without causing trouble.
Will you be driving all over the manouvering areas, or sticking to vehicle routes only. Depending on what you are going to be driving and where may give you some indications as to what they are looking for.
Common sense will probably keep you out of trouble.

I strongly advise you to get some practical training before attempting an airside driving test. You owe it to yourself, and the safety of other airport users. If applicable, you also need to be fully conversant with the correct radio procedures.

... and once you have been issued with your UK Airside Driving Licence, remember to stick to the local speed limit while driving airside. It varies according to the actual airport, but is invariably very low (like, say, 15MPH at BHX) - I should know, I have the speeding tickets to prove it! :* :=

Thanks for your help. Despite it saying on the email that I would be taking an airside driving test it was in actual fact just a drive around the local area with an instructor to assess my driving competence. I must admit I thought it was a little bit strange that I would be taking a driving test without being given any formal training! Anyway thanks again for taking the time to post and if I'm succesful and do end up taking the test I shall bear in mind your advice!:)
