I know this is a rumour network and therefore the question, as it was received by me as a rumour or 2nd hand info.

I was told that at CX, even on a Standby day, you could get called out for a Sim Session. If things do not go well, then this could very easily be your last day at CX.

Is there any thruth in this - I understood it in some way as almost being a kinda "Witch Hunt". (Very hard to believe though)

It was said that a SO would rather prefer to be called out for an Ultra Long London flight, than having to do that dreaded Sim Session...:\

Any insight into this?

Basically true. S/O's calll in sick depending on the sim instructor/check captain, but the same goes for F/O's and CN's as well.

So what is the retirement age for a bitter old tart who has never flown an airliner?

You mean the pilots can get called out on a standby to do a sim check ride anytime on top of the bi-annual sim check?

No it would be a crew up for someone else doing a sim check ride. I’ve lost count of the number of crew up Sims and 3 & 4 bar line checks I’ve done off reserve but they have all worked out OK. I can understand some people being nervous but I use them as research as to what to expect when it is my turn.
