Cheers everyone,

What is the policy for fifth rights in India? Would, for instance BA or LH, be allowed to operate domestically (picking up passengers in BOM, DEL etc to another Indian city) in India?

that is not 5th freedom, it is called cabotage. And I cannot see why the Indian govt will give either BA or LH these rights.... for 1. there are plenty of Indian carriers serving those markets, and 2. what does UK and Germany have to offer in return?

Would BA or LH be cheaper even if they WERE allowed ? For about 100 pounds I can fly full fare CCU-MUM about 2.5k miles. And On Full Service airlines can pick up a discounted fare for about 75 and 40 on discounted ones ! Plus aviation fuel isn't exactly cheap in this part of the world....

Cheers
