I recently responded to an advertisement in a news paper regarding admission in a reputed flying school in India; called IGRUA (Indira Gandhi Rastriya Uran Akademi). It is a nationally reputed flying club under the government of India itself. It is conducting an entrance exam for a course which would give me a CPL and most probably I might get to be a domestic airline pilot for the government airlines like Indian Airlines, Air India .etc. The real problem is their difficult selection procedure. It would consist of:
1. A written test in <1>GENERAL ENGLISH <2>MATHS <3>PHYSICS <4>REASONING based on 12 th class level
2. A pilot Aptitude Test (most probably WOMBAT test)
3. An Interview at IGRUA

The exams are in next month. Therefore kindly help me with the following question:
1. What kind of question can one expect for reasoning type of question?
2. Since I have done my class 12 in science stream I am not too much worried about math and physics, but still what areas should a pilot should be especially strong in, with regards to math and physics?
3. What can I expect in pilot aptitude test?
4. What kind of questions will they ask me in the interview and what exactly will they be looking in me?
5. What areas should stress in English?

kindly help me out.thank you.

Hi,

I am kanak and i am also at your stahe. I also completed the 12th in science stream this year.

Getting into IGRUA is very difficult as it is based just on LUCK as there is only 24 seats and there wil be more than 2000 applicants.

If you are really interested in becoming a pilot either you can go abroad as i was planning or you can join some flying clubs in inbdia like Ahmedabad flying club which is good. There are also good ones.

You can earn a PPL first and then try for cpl from IGRUA.

It gives you a lot of exposure.

I would reccomend you to ttry abroad particularly in australia.

the school there where i am planning to go is Basair aviation college.
australian pilots are regarded as very good pilots.

Dear Kanak..

The real joy of flying lies if you crack IGRUA exams and be a TOP GUN from IGRUA .... the favorites of IA and AI.

Anyone cal pay a huge sum and get into some top brass flight schools in AU NZ US etc.

Mintoo..

Its great that you are focussed on IGRUA unlike other youngsters who think that USA would help them get into Airbuses before they turn 20.

Try your level best ... crack IGRUA .. Pass out with CPL and BSc and let time tell what heights you'll reach

TOP GUN from IGRUA := := := := := :ugh: :ugh: :ugh: have you flown there ?

sorry IGRUA is just a pipe dream now...all you do is blow sunshine up the CFI and hope to get any flying done..

Aus/USA is where you learn to FLY and not read out dated books and use WW2 training equipment. 2. A pilot Aptitude Test (most probably WOMBAT test)

Look at the other fourms where every one is from UK & EU they all go to Aus or USA for the best training..

Hi,

Its all about flying and learining the best. For that you have to be in touch with the best in the world and IGRUA is not like top gun... its simply rated by haree as top gun b'coz there is no other school in india.....

its always better to do in auz/usa etc as they also offer the course at the same price as offered by igrua and also if u do it abroad u will be in contact with the best trainers.

In igrua good trainers are leaving as they are getting employed nd they dont have very good trainers right now.

I also heard that in igrua they use hindi as the language and even i read an article which said that some of the computers in igrua are converted into hindi..

also icalled at igrua once and they did not know to speak in english..

also igrua has restricted airspace but in aus you can fly endlessly from sydney to perth which is 4000 km...

regards
