As the title suggests I understand that ACL are in the process of increasing the number of ATR aircraft from their current figure of 13 (?) to 36.

Is there any truth in this [rumour] and if so does anyone know the timescales and any other information related to it, ie, over what time period will this take place, what numbers of pilots will be required and the sort/type of recruitment.

As far as I know, ACL already have 16 ATR 42s/72s.

I would think that the increase in numbers, if true, might be linked to opportunities created by the recent demise of Emerald Airways...

Air Contractors seem very satisfied with the operation of the ATRs since they were introduced in the fleet, and are in the process of increasing the proportion of 72s in the mix.

Cheers
