B747-400 Quick Fixes

Being new to the B747-400 I wondered if anyone had a list of quick fixes. Nothing special, just what is in the FIM would do. But for those last minute problems I need a list of resets that might work.

recirc fan status after power trip, go to crew rest and reset fans there

lots of msg's after power trip - cycle alt flap switch

unable to get ground power on - shutdown apu and pull the gpu plugs and turn batt off, relay relaxes and voila grnd pwr avail.

A good fix for some messages, is to completely power down for 2 minutes, then to power up again and do your tests.
This unfortuneately, is not always possible on a transit though!:cool: :ok: :rolleyes:

Yes I work a lot on narrow body airbus and complete power down is a last result that sometimes works. But for the airbus, we have an excellent circuit breaker trip list for common defects which came from Monarch. I was trying to get a similar list for the B747. I shall have to sit down with the FIM and copy them out. In the good old days with a paper FIM you could quickly look it up (we carried the FIM in our van), but now its on CD it takes too long. I carry a laptop in the van with the FIM loaded in the hard-drive, but it takes time to page through a computor. Anyway come 01 Nov we go back to B777 for the winter, and the FIM is miles better so should be OK.
Anyway if anyone has a list of CB trips for B744 then I would be most grateful

Status messages concerning E/E cooling can often be cured by rotating the equipment cooling switch on the P5 panel to override and then back to NORM.
The E/E cooling air exhaust valve quite often sticks in closed pos. on ground, despite a modification program.

More:
There are four AC and four DC CB´s on the overhead panel for the flt control PSM´s (power supplies).
Pull all of them and push in the DC´s first, then the AC´s.
Great fix for status messages generated after overnight parking or after unwanted power interruption.
