View Full Version : Who took my banana?

Have you guys noticed they are not giving us any fruit on DXB departures? Some dude in an office somewhere decided that by not giving us our banana in DXB, EK will all of a sudden be saved from the clutches of bankruptcy.

This is the cheapest thing that I have ever seen from any company in my 20 years of flying. Man, is this ever going to end?

Crazy.

Why not take the cold chicken curry sandwich away? I am sure that a cold korma roll would be more expensive to make than the cost incurred in providing a banana. And whilst we're on the subject, has anyone identified that flat piece of white plastic inside the other roll? It's probably got a similar molecular structure to that of PVC but does anyone know what it is?

Taken the cold chicken curry away might result in a walk out by thousands of Indina crew and that would be simply disastrous! (Not)

The little piece of white plastic found in your sandwiches is a revolutionary high tech composite made from the cut off rests of staff IDs (All, Not just Indians), blended at low temperature with laughing cow cheese, et Voila! EK has a patent on the material, hence it's unavailability outstation.

It was introduced with the keep discovering campaign, when the geek playing football on telly, sprained his ankle and no other alternative was found to feed him while he lied on his back.

But stay tuned, it will soon be sold exclusively to crew in the staff shop and you may offer it to your friends in the christmas hamper!

This doesn't sound like anything new.

American Airlines found that it would save $40,000 per year simply by removing the one olive that was in their salads served onboard........ and this was *before* 9/11.

Perhaps (as a frequent pax) I could suggest that the little "snacks" served out on short-haul (1-hour) flights could be dispensed with? On most of our region's carriers, they range from fairly bland to indigestible. And I'm certainly not going to starve without food for a couple of hours!

Yeah, trivia but annoyed me too. Only because we had a nutitionist in the newsletter saying we needed to eat more fruit and veg to stave off illness and fatigue. The next month all the bananas and apples had gone. Still, I suppose the fact that I now get a single fun-size mars bar, rather than a real one, should boost everyone's profit share massively!

Yap Crazyman, where is that going?
EK went directly to cost cutting, flying by cost controlling! Many bad decisions by talking apes (talking of bananas) make the life of EK drivers miserable.

Keep Discovering and Think Big!!!

Rumurs at the local watering hole have it raydarr that a new lowcost carrier to be run by Emirates is in the works. You heard it here first :ok: . Supposed to take on kuwait's Al Jazeera Airlines and sharjah's Air Arabia. All based on the "cheap & cheerful" principle so successful in Europe and America.
