Hey guys,

So what's the story with ThomsonFly? Some guys were told they couldn't attend the selections days, other (<200 hrs) invited still get to go - a friend of mine is going on the 22nd. Are they only telling some of the people who were invited that there won't be any more SO recruitment?

Is it still worth getting an application in?

I know a few people had their dates cancelled. Since they have been interviewing for sometime maybe they filled all there positions!

Not really sure myself. If you speak to the personnel department they are saying that all those who have already been in for the tests and passed will continue through the selection programme to the end. Those who have been invited but not yet sat the tests will have their invite retracted.

This seemed simple enough in my eyes, however, I know a lot of people younger than me, with more Total Time than me, and more twin hours than me who were contacted several weeks ago and told not to bother turning up where as I, by this time starting to get my hopes up, was only contacted yesterday and told that may be a career in cabaret would be more appropriate.

Why it is that all the outstanding invites weren't cancelled at the same time is indeed bemusing if you believe what they tell you over the phone.

Strange... my friend hasn't started the process but still hasn't received a call telling him to forget about it... And he's going in about a week!

A mate of mine passed all the selection procedures, given a date for the sim, handed in his resignation with his current employers, only to be told that his course has been cancelled and to re-apply when they advertise again.......shocking.

He's gone cap-in-hand back to his old employer, with no luck......

Sorry to be negative but.......

To resign when you haven't even gone through a sim ride, been offered a job, start date etc, is absolutely mad!!

Not sure about your friend's decision making skills??

I would think he's refering to the conversion training sim, not a sim assessment. I have known this happen to quite a few guys I have known along the way; not with TFly but with eg Debonair & Air 2000 etc. Then they got stuck high and dry. In both cases they handed in their notices before the minimum 3 months which was a bit daft.

Thunderchild,

I find this very hard to believe!! We need approx 120 pilots for next year. If a course was cancelled it would be because the training department is flat out. Many of us have had courses cancelled in the past but were always kept on in the hold pool.

I suggest your 'mate' give them a call as if the company has invested time to select him then we certainly need him.

There are still low-hour selection days taking place this week. Good news for the people who still get a chance!
