Housing & Education in Qatar

Can somebody confirm if Qatar Air is providing accomodation to new pilots joining Qatar Air.

Some pilots i know,who will be joining Qatar in few months are told by HR, that it will be Company Accomodation for 4 - 8 weeks and later they have to shift to their own place.

How much is the housing in Qatar? a reasonable 2-3 bed room apartment ( semi furnished or furnished) or a small villa.

Any website to find out the accommodation details, rental prices etc.. in Doha.

Is it easier to get admission for kids in Schools?

On the Qatar Airways website, they do not say anything of providing the accomodation, but i did hear that they are offering to new pilots.

I think its on subject to availability, dont know anything abt education

Be extremely careful if you decide to privately rent accommodation in Doha, I understand that if you have to pay for your own accommodation in Doha its well over the pittance that you get as an allowance. The prices are going up weekly and the local landlords are actively practicing the policy that maximises returns available. Don’t trust contracts, you could receive three months notice of cancellation, and demands that unless you are prepared to pay increases in rent above the agreed amount then get out. Be very cautious about committing to long-term agreements without doing research into the landlords past record.
Schooling is expensive and needs to be covered by your employer, additional costs are beginning to be introduced, these costs will depend on the number of children that you have.
Make sure that the employment contract that you have you understand and that you completely understand the costs that YOU will have to meet.
Unless you do your homework you can catch a rather heavy cold, to finish make sure that all agreements are in writing and to your satisfaction. Its not necessary safe but at least it will give you a chance to argue if it all turns to rats s**t.
