Any info why an EZY A319 aborted its take off at EGKK today?

The crew wanted to go back to the crew room to watch the cricket....

I guess there was something that indicated to the Captain that it was not a good idea to continue the take off.
I might be wrong though! The cricket thing seems plausible.
No doubt, in the true tradition of PPrune, he/she will be hung drawn and totally quartered before their next duty rolls around.

320Driver - I assume by your name that you are a pilot.
If so you should know better than to post a perfectly reasonable question like that on this forum! :ok: :p

maybe it's a BMW320 that he is a driver of...
Just a thought... :)

If you are also a pilot you know I could never afford a BMW 320 or any any other flashy BM for that matter ;-) ... no need to get ruffled though guys, its a Rumour forum after all...

Saskatoon,
Because the question is as trivial to us as "why did the engines get louder as the take off roll commenced?". And it keeps on appearing, it is not newsworthy, and it has been addressed many times before.

well if it is as trivial as you say, why bother posting an irrational reply???

Actually I'm begining to enjoy these threads. Probably only 1 out of a thousand browsers of these threads know the answer, but when the rest of us are bored like me we're willing to join in.
I suspect that 320Driver was probably the pilot and is still trying to figure out what went wrong. :}

Not at a stop sign, no give-way required, nor traffic lights, in fact the road was perfectly clear. No-one told me to pull up, no police involved, so I imagine it could have been a bit baffling to an onlooker. So why did that take place?
Bit immature, my reply, but to my mind, relevant.
You'll never know why I stopped unless you ask me, and ditto the EZY a/c at LGW. You better hope the flight crew are reading the thread, and interested in replying. Unlikely. And very likely the abort was followed by a taxi back to the holding point for a second effort.
The original question was not really a considered one, but hey, it's a free venue for silly questions and silly responses. Like mine.

NEWS JUST IN
Passenger horror as car screaches to a halt our man Stu exclusively reports:
"It was terrifying. We were going along as normal and suddenly, without any warning, we stopped. I thought I was going to die. I was crying - I'll never travel by car again".
As the drama unfolded, it became clear that a disaster was avoided. The possibility of a technical fault has not been ruled out by the driver, Mr Hudd, 42, of Shepshed.
Mr Hudd's management (Mrs Hudd) gave us this statement: "He probably just forgot where he was going, and had to stop to think".
The journey was resumed normally soon after.

You can bet your bottom dollar that none of the people replying sarcastically are actually pilots themselves; if there where they would:
a) be interested in the thread so that they could actually learn from it and possibly be better prepared should they encounter a similar problem in the future - that's what you would expect from 'professionals' and
b) they would be able to afford a personal title which at least would mean they could partly justify their posting of nonsense and misuse of bandwidth in these types of threads.

As a non-pilot, what I should like to know why observers want to know the cause of every singlt RTO or GA that happens in this country? It baffles me as to what use the information can be for those outside the work. Even if the enquirer is a wannabe, the information would be of no real practical use as the circumstances will always be specific .
I do not want to criticse 320DRIVER but, please let me know why you want to know?

God there are some morons on this sight!!!
I would say that a rejected takeoff justifies a query on this site.
It could have been an engine failure, hydraulic warning - all stuff that is certainly within interest of 90% of the people that view this site.
Luckily it was just a flap issue - probably forgot to lower them! Remember guys, TO MEMO....NO BLUE!! :)

Hmmmm..now why would be I doing an Annual Line Check starting tomorrow, as a non-pilot? Now that would be sillY!
Don't be so serious about light-hearted threads chap. I am thinking of getting a user name, though. Just make sure I am still in paid employment before I splash out.
And if we abort one of the take-offs, I will definitely report all the facts on prune. (Maybe)

Surely those of us involved in the industry should try and encourage, and educate, those who perhaps aren't directly part of our little world but interested?
On a site like this there will always be the curious. I have yet to hear directly what happened in the incident quoted but I am interested in the facts because, as a responsible aircraft commander should, it is important to mentally go through as many scenarios as possible to ensure that, if I am ever in a similar position, I will already have thought through my options and be able to make an informed decision.
That is, in my opinion, why it is useful to discuss every incident, of whatever nature. Because the more we know, the better placed we are to prevent.
Just my thoughts...

Thanks to all those who answered. Its interesting to hear that (allegedly) a flap problem caused the abort. A lot of warnings are inhibited in the take-off phase so its interesting to know which one was triggered or if the alert crew picked this up from the flap position indicator for e.g. ... anyway, I'm off before I start getting called names again... :-)
Safe flying!

PAXBOY - the information doesn't have to be used for anything out side work. Just interesting to know why an aircraft thunders down a runway and then stops suddenly. Why is this so difficult to understand???
EDIT: The problem was, jetteson and L-a-R-M, it was posted in the R&N forum at first, which gets a lot of people hot under the collar. Here we tend to be a little more sympathetic to this. :D
