Dear all,

What happens when you apply for SIA's cadet pilot program with uncurrent instrument rating?

Currently holding NZ CPL/IR and fATPL with rating in a light twin. licence is current but not so for instrument flight. Conversion for sin fATPL was completed before IR expired. Do i have to find ways to attain the requirement of 6 hours IFR flight time, of which 4 can be in the sim, along with ILS, NDB and VOR approaches?

If so, does it have to be done back in NZ?

Thanks.

Don't think you have a problem. Currency is only an issue if you are DE, I believe.

You sound to me as though you are well qualified and once in the programme they will sort out your licence etc.

Suggest you invest in a 'phone call to SIA and ask then outright how they would view your qualifications, be sure to point out that you are looking for a cadet position.
