View Full Version : Turbo Prop Operators in Asia

Hello Chaps,

Was wondering if any of you could point me in the right direction;

Are there any turbo prop operators in Asia who actively employ expat pilots? I am thinking in the line of King Air's, Beech 1900 or Vans. I know of a few ATR's flying around Thailand, but was curious to see if there were in fact smaller outfits in the region who hire expat pilots.

Looking at heading off to Africa to do some contract work, but to be honest, I would prefer to work in Asia rather than the deepest, darkest depths of Africa.

Any info would be appreciated.......

You can also try Air Deccan and Jet Airways both of them operating ATR 5/72's as far as I know . Other than that Left wing has it pretty much covered .

Sorry AF "Air Deccan and Jet Airways both of them operating ATR 5/72's as far as I know"

They will recruit only type rated Capts with 1000hrs as PIC. As most of the FO's are fresh pilots with 10 hrs or so on type and approx 300 hrs total.

Not a fun job for the Capt, he becomes TRI & TRE without the added pay teach the young ones all the way enroute. I know thats how someof the LCC are keeping their airplane in the air.

A-net in Japan is alway hiring captains and co-pilots for their Dash-8's. Parc and HACS have the contract I think.

@ NZL,

Yes, thats very true. But their requirements are quit strict as I was told by them (Parc) that to go from Beech 1900 Captain to Dash 8 F/O was too big a step!

what the japs are looking for is exp in a man cockpit at least
i fly the Atr42/72, and the main diff w the dash is the power
it has a lot to spare!!!! believe me
other than that in the sim, the japs just sit there while you do 1 visual, 1 ils, and 1 vor app's, thats it. they dont say a word
they interview quite straight fwd, maybe some 2 or 3 tech questions but thats it

on the other hand, its true here in india, you become an instructor w/out the pay je je je, if you have the patience to let the kids fly and try new stuff its ok, yes theyre new in the a/c and tt is low, but the local pilots Dont let them fly, as simple and clear as that, they do 4 or 6 sectors and the only one flying is the captain, theres no CRM there, forget MCC, non existent here

locals love to fly wi expat cause we let them fly

bye

capts only will soon change!

tks to the boss of Kingfisher, he is pushing hard to get 100s of GA pilots from Australia, to fly in India on contract. Its a win-win situation for every one, the airline gets pilots the GA guys get airline jet time..:ok:

The shortage of pilots is way too much for locals to cope with, from what I see Mr. DGCA is not helping their own.

Hairy Chest,

Do you have any further employment contact details for kingfisher?

I've already been on their website and the job info there looks like its geared towards locals.

Thanks
