Such an old story that even IC guys are resigned to the proposal as a dream which may never happen!

Yes they want a medium/long haul aircraft so that they can also fly some longer sectors such as to Europe. The govt policies have been amended so that the monopoly of AI is no longer there (except to ME). Jet has promptly acted on it, Sahahra is allset to go and IC no doubt would like to before the Indian allocations are all expended, but then the government has been cooling its heels !

Have some sympathy for these guys from IC, they are well run despite popular perception, are very agressive in the market and the old horror stories of lousy Inflight service has long ago disappeared. But then if the government is hell bent to destroy its own sib ling in the guise of liberalisation, what can you do!

From an all Airbus fleet to 777s ?

Retrain: Pilots,Eng,Cabin crew,grd staff,sales, outsource training,maintaince set up. So whats the real benefit here of going the 777 way?

How did Easy Jet and Air Asia cope going the other way then.

Plus the 777s I guess are only being thought of because not many A330s/340s are around for lease right now.

The 777/767 deals have been shelved .... they are still looking at 330's though but rightly said RSO that there r not that many 330/340's flying around the market these days .... but then again with IC one really never tell can u .......:mad:

Full economy class A330 on a LCC airline; that will be fun. Easily fill it up on BOM-DEL run.
