Merger? Sounds more like an Aussie takeover with Geoff Dixon as Chairman and Ken Ryan CEO. But then it would be, wouldn't it as Valuair were reportedly out of cash and credit. If I were a Valuair pilot I'd be worried - unless you're an Aussie of course. Remember, Danair and BA etc. Seniority will mean nothing and pilots will get shafted as usual. What a pity, as Valuair was reckoned to be a nice place to work.

Don't think that Valuair would be a nice place to work if it went out of business.
Remember, not only pilots get screwed in these situations.
Aussies that I know are in Jetstar are good people with excellent standards. Don't think race would sway their objectivity.
I think the result will be a Valuair with better standards as well as a future, even if the brand is lost.
In order to keep all routes they will have to run both the brands.
