I'm a UK based minimum hours JAR ME / CPL / IR holder. My partner has been offered a good job based around Shenzhen. I have hardly been inundated with job offers in the UK since completing my training but would the situation be worse / same / better over there? Or is it a closed shop for newbies?

Any opinions please.

I'm sure you are aware that many opinions on here have to be taken with a pinch of salt. Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable will post some more constructive advice on the matter.

Chinese airlines, like the rest of Asia, are looking for EXPERIENCED pilots to fill the gaps left by the rapid number of age retirees - and are willing (and ABLE) to pay for them.

My guess is, they hope that these experienced foreigners will act as backstops, until they are able to fast track their newly recruited F/O's to Command positions - with the blessing of their regulatory authorities.

Unfortunately, there probably isn't any shortage of "minimum hours" applicants.

EVERY country is scrambling, NOW, to assure themselves of a workforce for the future, because of the aging population, and low(er) birthrates.

The market is a BUYERS' one at the present, but THAT is going to change - almost overnight - to a SELLERS' market.
