I'm new to this so am just testing to see what happens when I post something.
Have any CAA AnC LAE's done the X license part in preparation for JAR 66 license? If so can you recommend reading material and or questions and answers for written.
Thanks

Ask a friendly avionics person - they should have all the gen. Quite a few avionics fixed wing people are also doing their Rotorcraft Autopilot tickets. A few companies are structuring their pay scales to suit JAR 66 qualifications.

Mark, the ALAE ran an article on websites related to aviation in the last issue of Tech Log. Advise them of this site. Pilots seem to make good use of "Rumours & News" - we should try the same with this site.

BUS, I actually put the website up for the ALAE and I have recently added a link to this site as the ISP I use doesn't have or use the scripting needed for a chat/forum area. I was sent an e-mail by someone suggesting this as it is a bit underused. So hopefully as time goes on more people will come here.
Thanks for the advice it is always welcome.
P.S are you a member?

Hi all,
I'm an A & C LAE, and also a pilot so I tend to look at everything.
The CAA are encouraging us to take our basic X license and giving us leeway on experience requirements.(Ie waiving it if you have been an LAE for a reasonable amount of time.
The x ticket is not as bad as some would make it out to be.

I am that someone mark. You have my e-mail address. Contact me but use my user name if contacting thru these pages.
On another note, it would be interesting to read pilots' perceptions of the engineer's role.
