Too bad you didn't make it. Did they tell you what specifically went wrong?

You always can try another cadet sponsorship. Maybe at SQ or Ka or CX?

Best of luck to you.

what is this psychomotor test about?

Is it a Computer Simulation Test?

TheFlyingDJ
12th July 2005, 09:33
Ok, maybe you failed this one, but that does not automatically mean that you will fail all the tests.

I would advise you to try this:

click (http://www.epst.com/data/ipas.html)

It's not much, but you can use it to train. Also, my guess is that a psychomotor test is about hand-eye-foot coordination.

And I do hope that you will be given a evaluation report about the testing. Any normal company should do that.

Hi everyone!

Hey saviour24, I also didn;t make it through the psychomotor test and they also didn't tell me why did I fail the test. In fact my whole batch did not make it through the test.

By the way FlyingDJ, the website u posted, the test actually have to be paid for before one can do it. Do you have any other web site which offers psyhomotor test and which is free?

I think I'll be applying for the second time for MAS cadet PILOT PROGRAMME .

True, but it's a good reference to show and if you pass this, you can use it as fact sheet for the next application.
I do not know any other ones that are free.

I did mine few years ago when it was still calles Compass: Computerized Pilot Aptitude Screening System. Maybe those tests are available somewhere.

Hi saviour24,

You can apply for the MAS programme for the second time.Few ppl have even went for the test 3,4 times.....

TheFlyingDJ,
Does CX take malaysians for their cadet pilot programme....?

Gud luck all........

CX nope.....I sent in mine months back, and they replied to me saying sorry I'm not Hong Kong or Chinese citizen or PR.

Ah yess, but listen, I guess there are more cadet programs in the world? I know that going with the local major carrier is a dream.
I always wanted to join KLM, but went to another facility.

How about the SQ program? Do they allow others than locals?

saviour24
14th July 2005, 02:22
TheFlyingDJ,

they do allow non-singaporeans to join SQ..especially malaysians...Wat is Ka?..i think SQ will be another option for me to bcome a pilot..

Hi middlekingdom,

All the best to u man...when i failed my psychomotor test,i was really disappointed..atm,i really thought of giving up..but now, after coming across this website,i told myself that i\'m not goin to give up n will try till i can bcome a pilot...that is my dream...kambateh!

Saviour,

SQ takes Malaysian cadets. KA is dragonair I think.....:O

TheFlyingDJ
14th July 2005, 09:35
that is my dream

and that's important to have. I have the dream since i flew for the very first time.
Never give up, thats my motto to. I am struggling to get that first job somewhere :D.

KA is Dragonair, correct. I think it is an ongoing business there.

Just apply to whatever cadet sposorship or training facility you want to go and see which one wants to take you.

ya never give up and u will eventually archieve your dream..thats how the saying goes.but sometimes people would need to face reality..u dont wanna be a 29 years old jobless dude or either doing a job that ur not interested in and still waiting for a dream to come true..

just my 0.02

TheFlyingDJ
14th July 2005, 11:26
true, thats why the smart people have a backup plan for work. They have a second degree on whatever they did before and maybe have some working experience too.
So in bad aviation times you can always fall back on a former job.

Most of the asian cadet programs get you into that airline, so if you are in, then i guess there are no worries.

If you do the training on your own, get a backup plan and keep the dream alive.

babyboeing400
15th July 2005, 09:48
some common sense. :ok:
but even if you're in an asian cadet pilot programme..your future is not all bright and safe..who knows you might fail your medical one day and you're left with a hundred thousands ringgit over debt to pay..or you might fail your proficiency check or even ab-initio..:)

TheFlyingDJ
15th July 2005, 10:36
who knows you might fail your medical one day and you're left with a hundred thousands ringgit over debt to pay..or you might fail your proficiency check or even ab-initio

mm yess.. here most of the ab initio's have an insurance which is mandatory by bank loan. If we get ill or medical unfit, the insurance pays the bank for the loan. You don;t have that in malaysia? Loss of licence insurance?

Failing profcheck is different, that depens on yourself. No insurances for that :D

saviour24
15th July 2005, 15:30
babyboeing400,

wat is ab-initio?actually,i do have some back up plans...furthermore,i'm pursuing engineering course at the moment..goin to complete in few more months...my priority is to get in into piloting...

saviour24, don't give up. That's the way. After submitting my application on March, I finally got a mail today form MAS. I will have my psychomotor test this coming 21st. Can you explain briefly how is the test conducted? And where is this Complex MAS place? Is it the one in Kelana Jaya, where the cabin crew training is held?

saviour24
18th July 2005, 08:08
SQ007,

the test will be held at subang airport,at the simulator building...they will be 5 type of test that need to be completed in 1 hour...actually,no need to rush la...just take ur own time...most important thing..stay calm and be steady...all the best to u man....take care

babyboeing400
18th July 2005, 09:35
well i didnt get any insurance in case my health lets me down,i dont think they have it here in Malaysia..:(

for the psychomotor test, just give all your best and believe that u can do it! staying calm is also an important factor..think of this as a test similar to the pressures that u will eventually feel in the cockpit itself in the future. ;-)

be confident if u can pass the psychomotor test..most of my friends that applied failed in this phase and i heard that it's the phase which most applicants fail to get through.. good luck~

hi there SQ ,
anyways, congrats of being called by MAS. It is true that the first stage is difficult, because during my test (last week) only 10 were through (including 3 girls, superb eh ;-) ) . Like everyone said, be calm and try to enjoy yourself. take your time reading the instructions and most importantly be sharp because all of those 3 out of the 5 tests requires logic. so take your time to understand the trick and the sequences. well, i will be going for the MISPA next week, hope you get it through as well.

good day all !

Hi fellow PPRUNE'ners

First of all congrats to you all who got called up by MAS !!! I myself is anxiously waiting for a call up however my application to MAS was handed in after March so I guess I got to wait for quite a while more.....However I do have a question with regards to the MAS recruitment criteria...where there is a requirement :

"Pass SPM or its equivalent qualification recognized by Malaysian government with six (06) credits including Bahasa Malaysia and a minimum of B4/C4 in Mathematics, Physics or General Science and English taken at one sitting."

I don’t have SPM sadly however I have something that is equivalent to the 'O' level system which from what I got told is considered equivalent to the Malaysian SPM. But then how is it possible to have credits in Bahasa Malaysia???

Also having only limited understanding of Bahasa (Primary 3) I wouldn't have good if any command of Bahasa...

Is Bahasa a requirement by DCA for crew licensing?? Or is it because the training at MFA done in Malay??? Will this mean that I would not even be considered for an interview?? I meet all of the other requirements except these two….

Any feedback on this problem will be much appreciated....Thnkx!!

Happy Flying you all!!

hi there all,
i have one question here, while i was browsing in the requirements of MAS cadet pilot, something caught my attention. What do they mean by PERFECT EYESIGHT and VISUAL ACUITY of AT LEAST 6/60 ??? that puzzles me up actually, perfect visual ACUITY is 6/6 . so they want AT LEAST 6/60 or the MOST 6/60 ??
help me here :-) thanks

cruise climber,
be optimistic, if you have good grades i think they might call you

good day :-)

For those who failed your phycomotor please don't feel disappointed. You can try to apply again and learn from ur previous mistake. Just remember what u play during the phycomotor test. I have seen cadet pilot that gone through those interview for few times just to get the sponsorship from MAS. If you really interested to work for MAS don't give up and keep on apply for it. While waiting for your application maybe you can do some course for your own benefit.Good luck !!

If i m not mistaken the perfect vision 6/6 means there are 6 rows of randomly pick alphabert that u need to read!!if u can read the 6th row means u pass the eye test!!!that is my opinion only!!anyway i manage to read the 7th row ! :)

I sent in my application in mid-March, got called in for interview last week (couldn't attend though, due to them scheduling my interview at a time I just couldn't go).

Wonder if they'll keep my application on file for any future interview sessions, or if I have to reapply and go through the whole thing again.

Hi all,

Cruise climber i am in a similar position as you! I also completed my studies overseas and just finished a degree. WOnder wat my chanes are on scoring an interview??
I also hold a foreign CPL with ATPL credits however with only a very limited amount of hours..just the bare minimum :( which doesn't seem to mean much in Malaysia from wat i can see in these forums...I guess that is fair enough though because each state has it's own licensing standards and requirements :)

Just want to find out from anyone in this forum whom have experience in pilot recruitment for MAS or AA on wat are my chances of getting shot at an interview as a cadet pilot??
Comments or opinions from anyone would be welcomed..!!
Cheers

Smooth flying to u all!!

For cadet pilot, it seems that as long as you have average qualifications and don't screw up your application you'll at least get into the recruitment process (starting with psychomotor test). Only question is how early (or how late) you get the invitation letter.

Anyway, for those of you in the know, is it a 100% requirement to have perfect unaided vision? My eyes aren't quite there; I can get the 6/9 line no problem but have to half-guess the 6/6 line. So my eyesight isn't perfect, but it isn't really bad enough to justify getting glasses/contacts.

So, assuming I get another interview call, pass it and get called up for medical, should I then get a pair of glasses made? Or am I screwed without 6/6 (20/20) vision no matter what?

babyboeing400

i have a classmate who is an MAS cadet who can only barely read the 6/12 line..he's been wearing glasses since he was 12.

I went for the psychomotor test 2 days ago and it seems to me that the software for the test is more interesting than the computer based test in SQ interview. At least it has more colours, but the joystick was not really callibrated. But I had to squad while I showed them my certificates.

Hi Saviour24,

As you mention there are 5 different tests in the psychomotor test. Can you please let me know a bit detail of these "5 different tests" Because I'm going for the test next week, hope to have some mentally preparation. ;)

Thanks a lot.. :D

Hi Cost_Index60,

I am applying through mail after found out the advertisement in Star Newspaper in March. But just called for interview last week, it tooks me about 4-5 months to wait. But at least finally have a chance for interview :D
They will send out a register mail to you, for my case, giving me a week notice for the interview.
From your previous post, you mean you hold a CPL rite? Then I think you can just send in your application to MAS directly and immediately. Coz I heard from both my frens and a guy from local flying club, saying MAS is URGENTLY need pilots.. ;)
GOod Luck for your application..!! :D

HanDs,
I think the only way is you hv to do your ATPL by your own and then apply as a direct intake pilot for airlines. Every airlines will accept you if you hold a Frozen ATPL. BUt, I think the cost would be very costly. Hope it can help you a lot.

gents, for those of you who did not make it this time, i'd like to tell you that i personally know one guy who got it after 7 attempts.....no kidding.....thats more than 7 years though.....
by the way i would suggest more time on the play stations for the "saikomoto"....had another friend with a bit of a hard time with the air asia version....got a joystick, a ps2 flight simulator game...practised for 30 mins....with a little coaching....made it the second attempt......nothing a little practice won't help!!!!!

and....don't give up on the other co's.....
