Hi there, I've attended the 1st and 2nd round of the SIA Cadet Pilot Interview.
Seems like I'm not being called up for the medical test. :o(
I've heard some rumours that SIA only gives its applicants once in a life-time chance.
Anyone knows if SIA entertains a second go at the interview?

If you have attended the second and final interview and not be selected, (you'll receive an email notifying you of the rejection once they get down to it) then you will not be given a second chance.
I dun want to give you false hopes, but chances are, unless you have something new to offer to SIA (for example, say you take your own ATPL and CPL/IR if you already dun have one), you will not be given another chance.
Having said that, there are also applicants that hold CPL/IR and/or ATPLs that did not get selected, and some, though selected, were terminated during the course of the training.

Hi there, I heard the rejection thing has been called off already, meaning these days the management don't even bother with telling you that you've failed! :o(
I'm kinda left hanging in the air coz the situation is that I'm left with a study bond till May 2006 which I've to serve and was wondering if SIA is putting me on the KIV list or am I just not selected.
Emailed SIA to ask but really dun think they seriously give a hoot since they receive tonnes of emails a day.
Since you've gone thru the whole process, I believe you understand the anticipation and eventually the desperation and exasperation I'm going thru. :(
I was thinking say in 3 yrs time, they won't be holding my records anymore so even when I tell them it's my 1st time, dun think they'll know eh?
Further, a person matures as time passes by so perhaps I have evolved into someone who is suitable?

JerryMaguire : I presume u have passed both the 1st, 2nd and medical? I asked my contacts, and yes they still do send out their rejection mails... As long as u haven't gotten a formal rejection, u are still in for consideration I guess. Why not call them instead?

Hi there, I've passed the 1st interview, attended the 2nd one but wasn't called up for medical. :(
I really dunno if that's becoz of my bond till May 2006 or perhaps it's due to me not passing the 2nd one. :ugh:

by the way, what are the chances that SIA will accept a 33 years old chap with no flying experience?
also, how long do u have to wait before u'll be call up for the 1st interview after the application?
Thanks!

Thanks satumare. I knew my chances when I applied, just wanna give it a shot... at least I can rest easy knowing I try.
Are u flying now? Do u know anybody above the age of 32 got in successfully? I'm really interested and will sure be over the top if I could become the oldest chap to qualify... wishful thinking I know, guess I'll just wait and see.
anyway, 32+ not that old rite? I can still pass my IPPT... :hmm:

Ripley:
Sorry for the double posting, din expect you to ask in another thread.
Anyway, as mentioned in my previous posting, it does not matter whether you can still pass IPPT at age 33. The limit is 32, unless you have (1) previous flying experience and / or (2) a Commerical Pilot's Licence or ATPL.
One of the reasons for the age limit is that it is harder to train an older person than a younger one, expecially when it comes to flying. Imagine, you'll encounter instructors who are way younger than you... would that affect you?
Also, another factor is your service life to the company. If you join at an earlier age, then you'll be "productive" to the airline for a longer period of time, with the age limit at 62, barring your medical examinations.
So, your chances would be slim indeed. The oldest guy I know of who, at the time of joining, is 31.

Hi Limpek,
Thanks. Will stick to my old job and stop thinking about it for now. :(
Anyway, I guess u must be flying with SIA... B777 or B744?
What is your experience flying in Spore and other country? Care to share?
I believe the 31 years old guy (when he was accepted) u mention is my friend... name start with a C and pretty outspoken.
