I heard from one friend mine that u must get a PPL yourself before u are allowed to take up the CPL course,that means more than 150k to take up the whole CPL course?
He also said that LATC is now starting to take in private students,is that true?

wcj8638, same question that u must get a CPL before u allowed to take up ATPL for your Captaincy, is it true???? and can't a PPL holder be a Commander on B747-400 or A380????:{

well.. it is obvious that you need to learn how to crawl before you walk and walk before you run..
therefore.. not only do you need a ppl before your cpl you also need a SPL before PPL. then after PPL and countless exams later you get a CPL. then afew more exams later you get a ATPL, and one more exam, or flight test as they call it, to get your IR.
but i dont think thats your problem.. the real problem is that MFA is full at the moment, so you have to your PPL elsewhere (namely in IPOH) and come back to MFA. if i'm not mistaken, MFA will take care of all of that.. and swallow a few bucks inbetween. but the whole course should still be around the 150 THOUSAND ringgit zone.
GOOD LUCK!
PS.. well technically a PPL holder can be a CAPTAIN of any aircraft, but not for a commercial company, or if the flight is generating revenue. and you cant get paid to fly with a PPL.

Hi there,
I heard from my fren who is a student in MFA now,he said that the only reason we need to get a PPL before CPL is that MFA is too crowded that it can't take in pupils without flying experience and teach them from zero,so they only take in those with PPL,
but he told me that this only started this year(2005),he enrolled last year,guess what,he got straight into the CPL without any PPL, but one thing is for sure, the prospectus didn't state that u need a PPL to take up CPL.
A little confused here,I noticed from somewhere that it states that CPL will include everything from a PPL lesson,is that true??
confused here,advises needed urgently
:ugh:
It is a normal ICAO requirement that PPL exams are taken before CPL and then onto ATPL. Why do you expect Malaysia to be different??
