Hi.

With a rumoured minimum hours requirement for DE F/O currently at around 4000hrs, any idea what's the chance of getting a job at Dragonair with just 3500hrs, inclusive of 3000hrs on the A320 with about 100hrs command?

Any idea what's the current time taken for an upgrade to command at Dragonair?

There are rumoured to be ppl who've had just a year's wait for their upgrade. So, any details on what sort of hours these ppl have?

For someone with the same hours as stated above, how long would it take to command from SO in CX?

Would it be advisable and is it still worthwhile to join CX at age 35yrs or would it be better to just build up command hours on the A320 and move onto a widebody subsequently, etc?

Any opinions and advice are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Papee,
Would have thought that you'd have a chance with hours like that. KA are presently looking at turboprop people, but they have lots of jet time guys on the books, or so the rumour goes! Find out by applying!

The upgrade time is very variable. Guys with jet and command time fare pretty well, others take more time. Shortest possible timescale would be about 18months, I guess, to complete the upgrade, but more realistically it seems to take between 2 and 3 years.

From what I hear CX are recruiting SOs with lots more time than you!

Can't comment with any certainty on the upgrade time for CX but I believe that a freighter command could be had fairly quickly..once you're an F/O!

4000 isn't a rumour, it's a fact. Must include 500hrs jet or 1000 TP. KA look at everyone with the minimum hours and employ a diverse mix of people.
