I was at LCY this week and noticed a number of biz jets at the executive terminal, all with the registration prefix CS-
What country is CS- ? Why register the a/c there? Is this some kind of 'flag of convenience' and if so what are the advantages? Is it purely financial (eg Tax etc) or are there safety or other implications?
Thanks for any help.

CS- is the code for Portugal & the aircraft you saw at EGLC are operated by Netjets Europe/Air Luxor Lda (the latter a Portuguese operator)

Netjets Europe have around 35 aircraft on the CS register at present

There are some reasons, why Netjets had chosen Portugal:

Fractional ownership is only accepted from a few of the aviation authorities in Europe; like, Portugal, Denmark (Flexjet), Netherlands and Switzerland as I assume.

Portugal is the cheapest country (salaries) of these four.

In my opinion, it wasn't the best choice, since the INAC is not the best authority.

Only Netherlands and Portugal at the time as Flexjet found out at huge expense! :ouch:
