Cooperation accord officially signed:
Lufthansa Private Jet: Market launch of new innovative product with NetJets
Maximum flexibility with supreme comfort for Lufthansa customers: With the start of the summer flight schedule on 29 March, Lufthansa is adding a new dimension to personalised air travel. The German carrier is offering a unique product, worldwide, to passengers who highly value flexibility and time-saving. “Lufthansa Private Jet, exclusively operated by NetJets“, is the new product that allows passengers to fly by private jet from more than 1,000 airports around Europe to Lufthansa’s Munich hub to board connecting flights there in First or Business Class to destinations around the globe.

Passengers arriving on long-haul flights in Munich can conveniently take a private jet to fly on to their final destination. The new private jet service, a further enhancement in the top-end market, can also be used for flights between European airports. “Lufthansa Private Jet” ideally complements Lufthansa’s worldwide network by adding up to thousand individualised flight options.

I think it's great, at least if NetJets sell their aircraft on a charter basis the clients will be able to see how bloody expensive they are in comparison to ad-hoc operators.

Most people who travel first class didn't get to able to do that without some appreciation of value. They mostly already know the comparative costs and have decided to choose a quality service and pay for it.

Look, it's very simple: NetJets have spent the last 10 years knocking charter:
Fractional is the way to go - new aircraft, high quality, super crews, wonderful safety.
Charter aircraft are on average 15 years old and the charter companies' crews don't train as well as NJ pilots, there's no consistency and crews sometimes have to fly 2 different types of aircraft (!).

So read my NJ lips: Charter = poor quality, NJ = high quality

What's that you say?
* NJ sub-contract 15% of their flights to charter operators (hence selling to their clients at NJ's inflated prices and on NJ's inflated promises, yet giving them 'poor quality' charter anyway)
* NJ offer jet-cards, which are effectively 'charter' flights, pre-paid
* NJ now offer Lufthansa clients 'charter' flights

NJ strategy for Europe is simple:

1. Sell fractional shares and knock charter.......until demand drops off as intelligent clients start to realise just how expensive it is after 5 years of bills;
2. Then sell cards and knock charter........until demand drops off as intelligent clients start to realise just how expensive it is....compared to charter;
3. Then go sell charter.

Oh, and in the process, lose $30m+ pa.
