From today's Sunday Morning Post:
Nine held after drug raid on flat
Nine people, including two expatriates, were arrested last night after police raided what they claim was an "ice" distribution centre in Wan Chai.
Detectives raided the flat after an investigation into the death of a former Cathay pilot, Gregory England, last month.
Police said an Irishman and a Scotsman were arrested with seven people from the Philippines - six of them women - when detectives raided the flat in Jaffe Road just before 8 pm.
Detectives seized a small amount of what they suspected was the drug ice from the flat, which police said was a distribution centre for supplying drugs, mainly to expatriates. Police said some of the drugs were thrown out on to the street as detectives were breaking into the flat.
Police said last night's raid was the second since England died on January 29. Ten days ago, officers raided a flat in Central and held three expatriates for questioning.
England, a former junior first officer with Cathay Pacific, fell to his death in mysterious circumstances. His body was found on the roof of a church near his flat in Kennedy Road, Wan Chai.
The Canadian had been with Cathay for 2 1/2 years when his contract was terminated last July. He was one of the 49 pilots sacked en masse by Cathay during the company's continuing industrial dispute.
A white powder, suspected to be an illegal drug, was found in his third-floor flat. Police also found prescription drugs used to treat stress.
England continued to work for the Aircrew Officers' Association, the pilots' union, after he was sacked.
He was also a first-division ice-hockey player in Hong Kong.
